Howdy friends...Ted from Oklahoma here, recently converted from 30+ years full-time employment as general manager for an interior shutter company to independent contractor/semi-retired. This forum is an AMAZING resource, thank you so much for maintaining it!
21-APR-2019 I bought an '05 Limited Roadster, silver (seems Chrysler calls this Sapphire Silver Blue) with auto and 66147 on the odo for $5000. At the time, it had been in a dusty garage for 3 or 4 years maybe, so the interior is slate gray (almost black) with tinges of OK Red Dirt seemingly ingrained to the dash...HA! Needed a battery, hood strut, back glass re-stuck, and I didn't trust the tires. Bought it from a friend (she called it her 'Barbie' car...HA!) of my now-deceased wife of 29+ years. When I'd bought it, it was past the extended warranty Chrysler offered for the top, so it's very good friends with duct tape at present. Got the other stuff up to snuff, including factory spec Michelins all around. I've put ~20,000 miles on it since purchase and overall am very happy with the value, even if parts are pricey and cumbersome to locate. My only real negative about the design is it's propensity to hydroplane. Well, that and the 'wave' solder done in Hungary on the RCM (THANK YOU FORUM!!!), which is on its way back to me from DJ...can't hardly wait! I'll update my profile one of these days with an image or two. Thank you again for this resource!
If you haven't replaced the top. please do. You can get a great deal from BAS International. If water leaks into your trunk area there are many things that could go wrong that will drive you crazy and cost you big bucks.
Thanks Zeracer, definitely on my to-do list for this season. Maybe in the heat of the summer here. I've been trying to keep the trunk dry but I did slack off there for a little while.
Thanks smfrycruzer, Pipeline Crossroads of the World (Cushing)! My dad lives in NW OKC where I grew up, so I'm semi-familiar with Yukon...sure wish the Wild's was still in operation! I should get Moderna #2 this week and have really been having a hankerin' to go to El Reno for an onion burger, or maybe Eischen's in Okarche for some fried chicken!
I got my BAS top installed in a condo parking lot in 90 minutes last summer - by some of the attendees of our June Ozark meet in northwest Arkansas.
I think I bought lunch for the two guys... I sure hope I did. $450 for 90 minutes work? That's $300 an hour! (Crossfire friends don't let Crossfire friends pay big bucks for work we can do ourselves.)
Hey pizzaguy, good to hear from you. I know, I know. Some things I just don't trust myself on and don't really know others (yet). I do smoke up a helluva brisket and/or babyback ribs though and have tools if anybody wants to make it over this way...HA! The ragtop repair place in OKC wanted ~1800 turnkey, but I'd have to schedule 2 weeks in advance for a 3-week stay at Hotel Crossfire (for Speedy). So, ~900+ after exchange rate to BAS and another $500 seems to me like a good enough deal.
