Default Hi from Reno, NV

I don’t know what I’m doing so here’s the photos first for some reason.

Hey all, my name is Anna!

I usually hate forums but I also am wildly unfamiliar with this little car that I have acquired, and it appears to be uncommon as hell. So I figured I would turn to you all

A little about me: I am 34, I moved to Reno, NV four years ago for work, relocating from Northern California (Bay Area native but I was in college in Humboldt). I graduated in 2019 and have two bachelors of science degrees, zoology and geology, two minors in scientific diving and geospatial informational systems (GIS), and a masters degree in mining geology/geotechnics. I work for Nevada Gold Mines, where I do ore control and excavations, exploratory geology and geotechnics. I have two dogs, a Doberman Pinscher and an Alabai, a pet pig and four cats. I greatly enjoy Reno’s nightlife, I like adventuring around and skulking around with my friends.

A little about how I ended up on this forum: I drive a 2016 Toyota 4Runner, which I love. I’ve always had SUVs. It’s the ideal car for my job, where I pull a trailer, drive 30k miles a year and take it on mine roads. I also love using as much gas as humanly possible to reach 35 mph. Just kidding. I was in the market, super lazily, for a small, fuel efficient car to ramble around town in when I’m off tour (two weeks on, two weeks off usually).

My life took a tragic turn on August 4th when my boyfriend passed away unexpectedly from a seizure, and my life exploded. My friend, who flips cars as a side hustle, found a 2005 Alabaster Chrysler Crossfire Roadster Limited in wonderful condition, with relatively low miles. And I jumped on it. Because my life is one giant crisis these days, and because I got a convertible which is a classic mid life crisis car, I registered the car with the license plate “CHRYSYS” which I think is funny. And dark. I am obsessed with it. Even though I didn’t know what model it was until this forum made me put it in. It may not be the most fuel efficient ride given some of the things available today, but it sure beats the 12-14 mpg I get around town in the 4Runner.

Anyway, here’s me, here are my dogs, and my vehicles.

WOW - What an Intro! So sorry to hear of your loss. But congrats on your purchase of a 2005 Alabaster Crossfire Limited Roadster & welcome to our Forum. Lots of info & folks here that will help you take care of the Roadster. If you aren't into doing your maintenance on the car, look for a nearby Mercedes and/or German independent service shop. The Crossfire underpinnings are that of the R170 Mercedes-Benz (SLK Series) chassis and these types of service shops should be able to handle most anything that comes up on the car. Again - Welcome!

thank you so much ) I have a skilled mechanic friend who has done some work on it that it needed (vacuum lines mostly) but yeah I will absolutely do that, thank you!! I just learned the little wrench that pops up on the dash is when it needs routine maintenance? What haha that’s so cool

Yeah, that little reminder that a Service is needed pops up on us every once in awhile - the Flexible Service Schedule reminder M-B put in the dash electronics. One little wrench says it's Service Schedule 'A'; 2 little wrenches is Service Schedule 'B'. See the attached file.

thank you so much! I am currently avoiding Facebook and most social media forms because it’s just endless questions about what happened to Harrison and I just can’t handle it. But I likely will go back on and I’ll check those out if so!

I am so grateful my friend found me this car I am obsessed with it. It’s hard to be sad driving around in it. We have hot air balloon festival here in Reno, and driving a convertible under a million hot air balloons was cathartic haha
