Default New guy, new 2005 limited!

Good morning from the Oregon Coast. I'm a proud new owner of a 2005 Crossfire Limited - by accident! My wife was in an accident recently which totaled her Jag F-Pace. When I visited the tow company's impound yard to retrieve items from the Jag, I spied a beautiful 2005 Crossfire parked in the corner. I inquired about the car and the company's owner said it was theirs because the car's owner had abandoned it rather than paying the towing bill. he said he didn't know what would happen to the car and asked if I'd be interested. I said "sure" - not really expecting anything to come of it. Well...I was surprised when he called two days later and offered me the car - for the outstanding tow bill! I couldn't possibly resist this 2005 Crossfire in great shape with only 75k miles - for $1,500! I couldn't be more excited to clean, detail, and put this jewel back on the road! But first I've got a couple electric gremlins to address - I'll switch over to another forum for that. Thanks for keeping this valuable forum available!

Don't hesitate to ask questions here. Many members have been here since the Crossfire was introduced. Mechanically you have a 2004 Mercedes SLK320 in Chrysler clothing.

Pictures, since I don't believe you Congrats on your "NEW" car. That's a great story about getting it for a low low price.

Good morning and thanks for the welcome! And what beautiful Chrysler clothing it is! And I did ask some "starting" questions over in the technical forum! Again, thanks for the welcome!

I know, I know! I keep expecting to find a dead body in the trunk or a piston poking out of the engine block - but so far, the 2 second start (I asked about in the technical forum) is my only issue. Thanks for the welcome! And here's no kidding proof:

Although a towing fee of $1500 is a lot but to purchase a Crossfire for that amount, its a steal.
Curious about the cars "Ownership Title"
Curious to know a little more about the owner who abandoned it to avoid towing fees etc.
What kind on Crossfire owner would do this ??
Did the impound yard have possession of the "Car Title" to sell you the car ??
Interesting story and I wish you well working through the issues you are having but for only $1500 ya definitely got a deal !!

ABSOLUTELY I feel like I stole it!

The tow company had a LIEN TITLE on the car. I took it to DMV and now have in hand a clean title and registration.

My attempts to contact the old owner have proved fruitless.

Yeah great deal on a great looking car. Might need a new SKREEM - but still a great deal!
Thanks for the support! Mike

If you think it's the SCREEM, contact MSS, Mercedes Swap Shop for repair.

That wing on the back looks like a STARTECH version of the Chrysler Crossfire. When you open the door what does it say on the bottom door jam? Does the engine cover say STARTECH 6.1?
