Fall foliage tour of Western Ma.
Sunday Columbus day weekend. I want to travel western Mass. from the lower region to the upper western region. I already know of a few excellent spots for pictures...
I would like to know how many people would be interested. We would leave from W. Springfield, Ma. which has lots of hotels for out of towners. All surrounding states are invited. Plan on a picnic style lunch. Trip would entail around 175 miles and a full day with stops for pics. We would leave W. spring around 9:30.
Post here if interested with email address and I will email trip route and times. Plans are still in progress stage.

The name on the garage is Donatini's repair or Mike's
auto.
Bring a picnic style lunch. There are places to stop
on the way for coffee or restrooms.
If you need to stay over there are lots of hotels and
such in W. Springfield. We will be driving down in the
A.M. as it is only 58 miles and 1 1/2 hour trip.

It looks like this weekend could be a washout due to rain. I am looking for input. Should we keep it for Sunday, switch to Monday or wait till next weekend? All thoughts planning to attend please reply.
We would like to keep it Sunday if possible.

I heard out Crossfires have wiper blades and I intend to find out.
We will be sticking to the original date of Sunday 10-9-05. Bring a picnic lunch, an umbrella and a plastic rubbish bag to sit on just in case. We can still enjoy a nice trip down some old winding back roads. We will be meeting at the W. Springfield location around 9:30 for a 9:45 departing time. I will change a few plans according to the weather.
It looks like Western Mass might not be hit as bad on Sunday. It is peak leaf time in the Northern Mts. so we might get some excellent pics there. Hope to see everyone on sunday.

Sorry, but based upon the unstable weather we are going to pass on the drive. I'm sorry that I didn't get to meet some new Xfire friends and see some others again. Hope that we'll meet up in the future.

Well out of 12 scheduled vehicles (there are hundreds registered here) three people showed up for a great day of leaf peeping and back road driving. The weather cooperated with us so that: Myself, Leebea, and Aschrager had a blast traveling throughout the state of Mass. We found out Crossfires can traverse 12 inches of standing water (There was over 8 inches of rain yesterday which flooded many streets). The trees are starting to turn so there was some color to look at.
We stopped for lunch at the world famous Red Lion Inn as there weren't to many people. Lets just say we won't do that again, and leave it at that. Plans for next year are starting now.

Sorry we didn't make it. It would have been nice to meet "crossfirefun" and "Leebea" and see "Aschrager" again. Perhaps the weather will cooperate next year or we can get together in the spring, once the Xfire again replaces the Jeep.
Take care,
Ray

Wish I could have gone but I did get in an 800 mile round trip across Ma into NY down Interstate 88 and through the Southern Tier of NYS. Beautifully clear 2 day trip with great color-almost didn't come home.
