Default Crossfire Ride to the Oregon Coast

Who would be interested in bringing several Crossfires together for a ride to the beach (Seaside or Cannon Beach) in Oregon? If interested, please let me know and lets see what we can get organized for let's say June 27th. Need a partner to help put it together.....Foomanpdx

Hmm.. this didn't quite take off...

OK, how about aiming for July 18th thereabouts and trying again? If lesr is coming down from BC, I'm on the way towards Oregon.

So 3 and counting...

The 18th of July sounds good. I can resend out later tonight for that date. Let me know if you have any ideas that could make this event fun.

Richard.

I would love to do this. I couldnt get anyone to do anything last year. But the 19th would work better. I want to take the Aero to Woodburn dragstrip on Saturday. Let me know what works out. Other weekends are good for me too.

There is also a overnight GTG being planned for Aug 29 & 30 to Whidby Island, WA. Contact Larry at lkrasky@comcast.net if you are interested.

If anyone wants to go to Woodburn to race or just watch, let me know. I would love to see more than one Crossfire out there. And it's lots of fun to beat up on the V8's!!

Great! I'm open for both Jul 18 and 19.
The NW section is pretty quiet, but I guess smaller groups are meeting up.

Lesr, are you still able to come down for the Jul 18 or 19 drive?

Thanks MikeR for the info about the Aug 29/30 GTG. Sure sounds fun, but I'll have to make arrangments for the kids (or bring them ). Anyway will contact Larry.

I would also like to come down to Woodburn on the 18th to watch. Never been to an event like that...

Just for the discussion and hopefully leading to a grand conclusion:

July 18th (Sat)
Interested parties to meet at Woodburn to observe/participate in dragrace

Dinner together - any recommendations?

Accommmodation - any recommendations?

July 19th (Sun)
Drive to the beach (Seaside or Cannon)

Lunch together (recommendations?, then head home.

Feel free to suggest alternate agenda

cheers,
aaron

Well, I am up for RACING on Saturday and driving to the coast on Sunday.

I have a place to sleep. I also have a guest room and an air bed for a second guest room.

If I end up being the only one coming down, I might just take you up on your kind offer of accommodation!

This sounds like the best thing going. How can it be made to happen?
I guess you can try to do it formally, or just do it informally by putting out the word to meet in Woodburn either Saturday or Sunday morning. If you go to Woodburn on Saturday, you are on you own for accomodatons, etc. The Seattle area people could meet up somewhere (Southcenter, etc.), at a certain time, on Saturday morning and caravan down to Woodburn. A meeting place, and time, in the Woodburn area could be specified for Sunday morning, and whoever shows up goes on the Oregon Coast ride.
It would be nice to establish some Crossfire contacts!

Um, not sure about making it a formal event but surely everyone able to make it is invited

So here goes a tentative plan with date and time:

July 18th (Sat)
Folks in the Seattle area
- 8:00am Southcenter, parking area in front of the Bahama Breeze restaurant (see picture)

- 8:15am departure for Woodburn (travel time 4h inclusive of bio-breaks)
Online map showing directions from Southcenter to Woodburn drag-strip here

- 12:15pm Lunch location at/near Woodburn (MikeR, any recos?)

All afternoon to be spent at Woodburn dragstrip?? (web-site here)
> from the events calendar for 7/18, it only mentions:
ET Race (non-points) & Test-N-Tune

We might find an empty track by the time we get there but I'm sure a bunch of Crossfires can find something to do (any breweries nearby?)

Dinner recommendations?

Accommodations will need to be arranged separately unless someone familar can suggest? Portland?
Found one place here and they have like 20+ rooms available on 7/18 for $89+tax incl. breakfast

July 19th (Sun)
- 8:00am Breakfast at the hotel or some other place?

- 9:30am Gather and drive to the beach (Seaside or Cannon)
I think it is about 70-80mi away, someone can confirm

Lunch location? Suggestions?

After lunch, agenda is open for more drives along the coast, or a leisurely one back up to Seattle.

Feel free to revise the above, and we can confirm say, next Friday. Might be good to confirm accommodations earlier. No group discounts, so calling for reservations individually might be a good idea.

15 days to go...

cheers,
aaron

Whoa, lucky you!
If this outing really happens successfully, chances are that we would do another.
If this outing doesn't happen, chances are I will try to create another sooner rather than later

It looks like you've done a good job of laying something out.

I don't know about anyone else, but I've got reservations in Woodburn for Saturday night. I'm not 100% sure I will be able to make the whole weekend/cruise, but am planning to be at Southcenter at 8AM on Saturday.

The closest my Crossfire has been to another Crossfire since I have owned it is - a coupe was parked on the next block from me in Fall City, WA one day. It would be nice to have some Crossfire contacts.

Is there any sort of a "headcount" so far, or how do you go about getting one?

Thanks Gruzer-Ed!

So far it will just be you and me that Sat morning at Southcenter

Was going to use this thread to get a count since the only important thing to coordinate would be to meet at Southcenter. Everything else after that is pretty much optional.

If there aren't any other takers for the beach drive, I might also just stay the night and take a slow cruise back up Sun morning.

Still 8 days to go!

Looks like it's only you now! I've got to drop out due to a family emergency - relative dying in California.

Sorry!!!

Lets not give up on a Crossfire meet-up on the Seattle area.

Perhaps we would just shoot for a Saturday Morning Breakfast somewhere in the Seattle area. That would not be a very big commitment of time.

I ususally get together with some "car guys" every Saturday morining. After breakfast, some or all of us may or may not do something. I usually don't takt the Crossfire to breakfast, because my two Mastiff dogs love to go (they get leftovers from the guys), and you are not going to get a 200 lb and a 125lb (puppy) in a Crossfire.

No worries, we can always try again

Sure we can meet up for a Saturday breakfast every now and then. The exotic car event in Redmond is also a good opportunity to gather, so whichever is fine as stress-free GTG opportunities.

How about I start a thread titled GTG in Seattle, and whenever someone has a firm plan to meet, you can just put in the details as a response, and whoever can go will go. Not much more stress-free than that

Mike, apologies again, but we will postpone this Woodburn trip altogether this time.

cheers,
aaron
