Default New SLR McLaren Roadster

This is what you get for about $700,000:

And it's not even the upgraded (650 HP) 722 model. Sure makes our roadsters look good, IMO.

It's an awesome machine and I would love to drive one but the cost is just crazy. I have better things to do with my money. The Crossfire is an awesome machine in itself. The cost is realistic, it's a head turner, and a kick in the shorts to drive. That's good enough for me. What more could an average guy ask for.

I can not stand the new front ends on these MBs. Yuck. Other than that - nice car.

I suppose it doesn't look to bad with the top down, but with that way too long front end, the car just looks out of proportion to me. (But it does look better than the coupe IMO).
Even if I was rich, I don't think I would want one.
What good is it to own one of the fastest cars in the world, if you don't enjoy the way it looks?

I do like the exhaust coming out the side like it does. I may have to come up with something like that. I like the wheels too minus the MB decal...

I want the wheels, but they are probably 10K. The exhaust looks interesting also.

I wonder if the side vents are real?

All true, of course, but keep in mind that you could buy 23 new SRT6 roadsters for the price of this one SLR. Is double the HP and lots of carbon fiber and a nifty side exhaust worth a 2,300% price differential, particularly given the looks and the MB ancestry of the XF SRT6 roadster? No way...

Somebody on this forum posted a photo of their Crossfire with wheels that looked very much like them. They even listed the name of wheel company also, because I looked them up on the web.
I think their car was either SSB or Grey, and it was in San Francisco.
Sorry I can't give ya anymore info than that.

Here's a interesting video. By the way, it's much better looking in person.

-32-, I saw one at the Cleveland Auto Show a couple of months ago, and it still looked out of proportion to me. That was a good video though.
But for just a little over a 1/2 second improvement in the 1/4 mile, at a cost of over 400K more than I paid for my better looking GTS, I think I'm more than satisfied with my Dodge, thank you very much.

To RMADERMAN, check out the (alen) gallery for the wheels that I was talking about. It's not the car from San Francisco I mentioned before, but it has the same wheels.

I was going to modify the console/dash on my Crossfire. After seeing the SLR and the family resemblance I have changed my mind...25K in lieu of 700,000K...

See this new thread. With the carbon fiber look, why buy the SLR?

Roadsters has always been a great ride! It has really amazing style and having it as from Mercedes is way too much! SLRs are known for its efficient engine performance giving the credit to its Mercedes air filter. I'd read about its price...sadly I can't afford it!
