In NY when they're available you'll pay $45,000 - $50,000 for a loaded C Class Sport or luxury model. That's what I hate about BMW's, MB's, & Porsches here in NY they never deal. The sales people walk around with their noses in the air and if they sense your figuring out in your head whether you can afford the car they move right on to the next customer. Loaded BMW 335Csi's will be $50,000 as well and forget the Caymans and Boxsters. I thought the Cayman was to be the poor mans Boxster (aren't Roadsters ALWAYS more than convertibles) and the entry level Porsche. Try and leave a dealership with one for less than between $65-$70K. So my point is your comparing cars (IMO) where one is virtually 2X the price of the other. That's why when car mags compare sports cars and cost is considered a significant factor the Corvette always. the buyers are also buying these cars for very different reasons. the Corvette buyers are IMO much more into the performance side of their cars, while the Bimmers, Porshas and Benz's are more bought for the head. NOT that there aren't the performance freaks in all lines of cars. Corvette owners I think are just more hard core. Only my insignificant opinion.

When I referenced the 7 grand for a C350 over a Sebring, I was referring to what the dealers have on their websites. I don't believe you can find a Limited Sebring for 20 or 21K! If you can, hell, I'd buy one for my wife too. I'm not defending the Sebring over the C Class...I just believe that when you look at what you're getting, it's just not worth it to buy the MB. A loaded Sebring Limited w/3.5 V6, topped out at just under 30K and I was adding ridiculous options, where as, on the C Class, I chose the C280 since I hear the C230 is in its last days. It started just over 34K and if you added comparable options, you'd be in the ballpark of 7K over. After you throw in cost to own, the Sebring Limited doesn't look bad at all.

But like I said before, not with my money.

I see what you mean, you were referring to the OLD C Class. Well having seen the new C Class there's no way I'd even be looking at an old C Class and trust me the new one will be 10-20K more than your loaded Sebring Ltd.

One more reason to choose the Sebring!

Absolutely, assuming your buying it for value and not mental state or the financial ability to easily do so. You know another thing that always bothered me was seeing people driving gorgeous Ferraris and such in the rain or snow and I expressed my feelings to my wife. She asked whether I thought it unusual to drive my New Beetle Turbo in the snow. I said of course not. Her answer was well what if his Ferrari is the same relation to his salary as your Beetle is to yours? How do you know what he's got in the garage for his sunny days? So people will buy the C Class as their tool, their value car just because they can afford to.
