Default What kind of car is it?

Ok, there's this car that's parked outside like a Quaker State Wash and Lube place near me and I can't figure out what kind of car it is. It's definitely vintage, maybe late 70's early 80's. At first I thought it was a Pantera but after searching it wasn't but it kind of looks like one.

The only description besides pictures is the way in which you get in the car. It's a top loading type car like the Saab Aero X and it doesn't seem to have any auto branding on the front of the car.

I haven't investigated the car in the lot yet, I just see it there all the time and I don't know what it is.

Sounds like a Bricklin to me. Know what a Bricklin is? Generally came in bright loud colors, oranges and greens. Sort of gull wing doors. Bodies made of plastic I believe. I think they were AMC powered. Circa 1974, I almost bought one instead of my 260Z. Only out for a few years. Malcolm Bricklin is still around. Had been importing cars from China recently. I'll try and find a pic and post.

This is a Bricklin. Is this what you're seeing?

Marc...that's not it...the whole top canopy raises and lifts forward as one piece. Right before I left Long Island I saw one at a car show in Patchogue. By the way back in my younger days my Brother and I shared a 1975 SV1 Bricklin, similar to the one below but not as good condition wise.

Sterling was a kit car wasn't it based on VW mechanicals at the time. We have one show up at the beach on Sunday mornings. Usually very shoddy quality. Looks like someone's trying to take them upmarket now and sell them like they do complete Cobras.

Nope, it's not a Bricklin because it doesn't have Gullwing doors, it has a Canopy like that kit car RPM posted, but it's not so barebones like a kit car. Definitely looks like a production vehicle.

I'll stop over sometime this weekend and take a picture.
