Default Saturn Sky Redline

Has anyone driven a Saturn Sky Redline? I am thinking of buying a 2008 for my wife. How does it compare to an SRT-6? Thanks.

uh that's kinda a silly thing to do, not that it's a horrible car but the price is way too high $30,000 for a dinky little 4 cylinder and no interior. buy your wife a BMW 3 series, she will be much happier, the srt6 is too much for her. better yet buy her a certified used BMW from the dealer, that way you'll save on the depreciation.

I like the Sky quite a bit. The redline is the only way to go as the normally aspirated engine is lethargic. The SKY cannot compete with the SRT performance wise but in my opinion is a very sharp car.

The SKY is a great vehicle and with simple turbo tweaks will run down an SRT-6 pretty easily...they're also incredible handlers from the factory and with a little tweaks...perfection on wheels.

I am sure that the BMW 3 series is a fine car; but not sporty enough for my wife. We have looked at low mileage 2006 Z4's; but they start at $35k.

The aftermarket availability is one reason we are looking at the Sky Redline. It's too bad the aftermarket is not so kind to the SRT-6.

True, true...what aftermarket there is for the SRT-6 is ridiculously overpriced compared to the vehicle price, the SKY has limitless potential seeing as the solstice GXP is the next big american tuner car and all. They're great driving vehicles, I love the interior, and I think its better laid out than the xfire, and you really can't beat the ecotec turbo...its quick for what it is and has limitless potential.

What color are you thinking of getting? I really like the look of the sky in black.

If your wife is hard up on a Solstice Sky type of sports car, then go with the Honda S2000, much better car, and I think its been around for so long the aftermarket is unlimited for tuning. Remember GM doesn't really design sports cars, they're just feeling out the market with those two models, they haven't been perfected like the S2000 or BMW Z .

I would stay far away from GM vehicles, except the Corvette. That's a fine machine.

the S2000 straight gets its *** waxed in a straight line by a sky and the sky will easily keep up in the corners with even an ok driver. TURBO = limitless,
people have pushed the bottom end of that ecotec to hell and back pretty easily...that ecotec engine is sturdy, forged, and over engineered.

I don't know about limitless, even those EVO8 can put out insane hp, but you will be doing tear downs and clutch jobs every 6 months. I'm not looking for a pissing contest, that's for children.

If she's looking for a near high horsepowered car, then she should test drive a use vette, Saturn Sky or Solstice, S2000, Audi, BMW. When it come to women, the interior comfort and exterior style, are usually the selling points not what's under the hood.

Exactly, and the sky/solstice wraps you in its interior...they're sweet cars. A used vette would probably be feasible too and get about the same gas mileage...but then again you're driving a vette, that name alone triples the price tag on parts.

The saturn Sky is a sharp looking car, but it does not drive like the crossfire. The crossfire is a much more solid car and the styling is much better than the saturn. Buy your wife a crossfire convertible limited, she'll be very happy and you'll get one for a great price. The crossfire will last much longer than the saturn as well!

Wow...I'm pretty sure you're wrong on every account. The GXP solstice is a SOLID car with 50/50 weight distribution. It handles extremely well and stays planted, the xfire is nose heavy and proves it. Styling...that's your opinion...but I guarantee you park a roadster xfire next to a sky and the sharp lines of the sky will get the looks...period. The auto tranny in my xfire sucks...its almost like it was made by chrysler rather than mercedes...slip city. The ecotec motor has about the best reliability you can find, it would push the miles just as easily as any xfire motor option could...the saturn over all is a much better bargain.

For $30k she can get a sweet Audi A4 2.0 turbo, it has a huge aftermarket and can be more utilitarian than the funky SKY/Solstice things from GM

After reading a few of your posts, I would think that you purchased the wrong car.
Do you like anything about the Crossfire?

BTW, I would much rather have a s2000 over a GXP or Red Line. The I4 in the s2000 is a fantastic engine with superior reliability.

Ok well I can't speak for the handling of the sky/solstice... but as for the styling it is not the looks that define the quality styling... park a gallardo or f430 next to a db9... I guarantee both of those cars will get more looks than the aston, but is their styling better HELL NO!!!

As for the transmission maybe mine is somehow slightly different, but I have no complaints about it at all... I have driven the Automatic Gallardo and that thing has a messy tranny...

I do like the crossfire and all, its been a good daily driver reliability wise, just got worse gas mileage than advertised and the handling got old...I'm not willing to put money into it to fix its faults so I'm letting it go.

I disagree with the S2k comments but thats just me, I've seen two S2k go through 5 engines in 3 years...they're not heavily modded either, but thats besides the point.

Sky's are fine as long as the top is down so you cant see how poorly fitted and wrinkled the top is when up.

Always date a woman who drives a pickup truck - 10-to-1 says she admired her dad, can always help you out when your motorcycle breaks down and when it's moving day...sweet...

Can't fit crap in any of the cars you guys are talkin bout.
