Default 2008 Wrx Sti

does anyone have any first hand experience with this car? i'm just looking for a very quick, pratical car; one that i can put a roof rack on for two mountain bikes and keep an ice chest and a tent in the back while still enjoying good performance. the new 2008 doesn't look quite as ricey as previous models and i like the wagon style. any thoughts?

Ugly. thats my thought to tell u the truth. the new body styling kills what the WRX is. its an offroad high powered machine. i loved the old WRX and have multiple friends that have them and the sti is a very quick car.

x2...............they ruined the design of the car and now it looks like a big 5 door hatchback BMW Z4 from the side. I'd say buy a used 2007 STi for around the same price if not less and save yourself from owning a horrible looking car.

I like the new STi.
Fast, practical, reliable, awd, lots of mods, etc.

My thought is buy the cheapest base WRX you can. They'll have a lot more resale value than STI's simply because more people can buy them, and the tuning junkies will be happy that it's a factory turbo car.

The STI is good, but for what you're planning to use it for, the WRX would probably suffice.

But if you really care about getting the "STI" engine and DCCD, then by all means go for it.

thanks for the input. i plan on test driving them next week. and yeah, that is a good idea about the non-sti; i'll test drive that as well. having a lotus fast, practical car seems too good to be true. we'll see. now i gotta find away to keep the crossfire in the picture. i don't think i could ever part with this car. just this morning, i got two compliments at stop lights.

Skip the Impreza altogether and get a 2007/8 Forrester 2.5 XT. Way more room inside, higher ground clearance so you can do more off roading with it, same great driveline. 0-60 in 5.3 and the 1/4 in 13.8. Not too shabby.
