Default Chrysler $2.99 for 3 years! What do you think?

I'm sure all the Mopar fans already know about this, but basically with the purchase of a new vehicle from Chrysler you will get a guaranteed gas price of $2.99 for the next 3 years..

This is in order to spur the lacking sales that currently haunts the auto-industry as a whole.

What are your thoughts??

If that includes premium that might be a good deal...

I bought a Mustang where you got to buy gas for .99 a gallon (it was 1999 - still a good deal, but not like it would be today). The problem was I had to go to the dealership to gas up and it was a 20 mile round trip - so... it wasn't a real bargain. Luckily that wasn't the reason I bought the car from them - it was the price and service...

great sales promotion, though!

According to reports, it does not include all cars and is for regular gas only or E85

It does include mid-grade and premium fuel for extra cost. BUT, this program REPLACES current incentives (your choice). Once you read the fine print, it's not such a great deal anymore and actually benefits Chrysler by spreading that $2000.00 (depending on vehicle) rebate over many years....

After inflation factored in over the pass 40 years, premium gas here is only 41 cents !

they calulate it to $500 per year so they give you 1500.00 off on the car. you still pay too much.

not true. they calculate it on the amount of gas the vehicle you buy should take should use assuming you drive the average amount of miles per year.

Therefore on a vehicle with lower MPG would get more gas credit per year. The gas doesnt need to be used in the vehicle you buy either, it can be used for anything you want. You just get so many gallons. You could buy all your gallons in one day and fill a tanker if you wanted.

But essentially it does work out so the gas deal is the same as the rebates, so whether you want a lower car payment or lower gas payments is your choice.

Not sure what some of the Dealers are offering but I am looking at the 2008 Cherokee and I was offered all rebates along with the gas incentive. Total of $7,000 off.

if you used the alloted amount of fuel each year for a full sized pick-up you could buy 2,400 gallons at the $2.99 price. if by chance gas were to average $5 over the next three years, the savings would be ~$4,800. i think chrysler would get quite nervous if they sell lots of vehicles with this incentive and oil prices continue up up up.

At 20 MPG and 12,000 miles per year (limit) that would be 600 gallons per year times 3 for a total of $1,800.00 at 3.99 per gallon. If you got 30 miles per gallon it would be $400.00 per year or $1,200.00. If it went to $4.99 per gallon you would double that amount etc. They are betting it will level off and go down a bit. It is still a lot cheaper than cash incentives. Also over the 3 year period they will be making interest on the money they would have givin you up front as an incentive. Brilliant marketing unless things really go crazy.

Notice the adds fine print note that it may take 6 months to activate your account. I wonder if that comes off the drivers time or Chyrslers time.
