Default Volvo

As I am nearing the end of my schooling in auto repair I am looking towards advanced training. I originally wanted to go BMW, but they have a requirement of turning wrenches in the field for at least 6 months and they don't consider "parts slinging". So then I applied for Mercedes Benz seeing as how I drive a Crossfire. Their admissions is probably second hardest to Porsche's and I unfortunately couldn't pass the phone interview. Don't know why, there's a kid in class who works at a Benz dealership right now and didn't pass! Oh well.

I just got a call earlier today from our graduate employment guy that I now have an interview with the advanced training rep with Volvo NA Thursday morning (12 Jun 08) and i started looking online at Volvo stuff. I have never owned, driven, worked on, etc a Volvo car.

Are there any Volvo owners, or better yet, Volvo afficianadoes on this forum that can give me some insight, trivia, or any ideas for great questions I can ask the ATR that will help my case towards entrance to Volvo's SAFE program??

Thanks in advance,

Justin

My wife is on her second Volvo. She had a 2000 Volvo V70XC Wagon and currently drives a 2006 V70R Wagon. I would imagine you need to be knowledgable regarding Volvo's emphasis on safety and the environment. It may be a good idea for you to go to a dealership and test drive one of their cars. Also, I know there are a lot of Volvo forums on the net. The one I've used a lot is V70R.com. You may be able to get more insight from the folks on that forum.

Had my interview earlier today and have been accepted into Volvo's SAFE program. I graduate UTI September 12th and I head to Avondale, AZ for training to begin on the 22nd of September.

Not sure to take the Crossfire there of the Jeep. Crossfire better on gas, but the Jeep for everything else.

I don't know much about Volvo's other than that my mother drives a Volvo S60, and it seems to be a very nice, trouble-free car. However, the reason for my posting is just to congratulate you on your upcoming graduation and entrance into advanced training!! Congrats!

Congratulations on your career advancement. I've drove Volvos for 20 years. They are great cars. My first one was an 87 740. I had this one for 15 years, and 250K miles, I had a 95, and before the XF I cad the S60 4WD. Excellent cars.

I'd take the XF too.
