That's a Duesenburg but it has street rod wheels. I've never seen that before. That's the era of cars that I'm crazy about and your picture confirms the Deco connection. Thanks for sharing. Any more info on the Duesy? Location etc? I think it may be a reproduction.

The only badges on the car was a 'Duesenburg' badge on the front grill and one above the pipes which said, 'Super Charged'.

The car had Arizona Historic plates, so I'm guessing it's not a reproduction. The body was metal, not plastic as some reproduction cars are.

Back in the late 1970's and early 1980's a company produced Duesenburg replicas. Here's a site that is selling one of them now. http://www.prewarcar.com/show_prewar...p?car_id=48858


They sold for $150,000 to $170,000 back then about $190,000 now. They would qualify for historical plates now as they're over 25 years old. I would be very surprised if the car in the picture with yours was a real Duesy I think they go for over $1,000,000 at the auctions now.

That doesn't take anything away from your great picture, just a point of interest.

Another "new" Deco replica. Think this would be a head turner? Very much like a cross between a 1930's Delhaye and a 1930 Jaguar SSK.

Note the Crossfire hood strake treatment.

It was made by Terry Cook from Deco Rides on a 1997 Corvette chassis. Mr. Cook's designs are influenced by the Italians Figoni and Falaschi who had a coach building facility in Paris in the 1930's. They designed bodies that went on Delahaye, Delage,Talbot Lago,Bugatti, and Duesenburg chassis. Here's the site:

You can catch hints of these cars designs although they're subtle in our Crossfires. The ridge down the center of the car, the "boattail", the strakes on the hood, and even the font on the speedometer. I became aware of these cars while I was looking at a site that had picures of the Pebble Beach Concours and I would be looking at a Packard, Cadillac, or Duesenburg and I would see a Delahaye or Talbot Lago in the background and they would catch my eye and I would have to find out more about them.
