Cool Cadillac XLR and XLR-V

I am about to pull thr trigger on a new to me (CPO used) car, I have narrowed the choices to 2 cars.

A) 2006 Cadillac XLR: Crystal Gold Mist with Shale Interior, 29000 miles. 4.6L Norstar 320hp @6400rpm, 310ft. lb. 17/25 mpg. The car is EXCELLENT condition, comes with 7yr/100000 bumper to bumper , 1 year OnStar and XM radio. There were only 304 (11%) made with this color/interior combination made out a total production of 2989 XLR's in 2006. Price: $42,000.00 out the door.

B) 2006 Cadillac XLR-V: Light Tarnished Silver with Shale Interior, 34000 miles. 4.4L Super Charged Norstar 443hp @6400rpm, 414ft. lb. 17/25 mpg. The car is EXCELLENT condition, comes with 7yr/100000 bumper to bumper, 1 year OnStar and XM radio. There were only 106 (26.1%) made with this color/interior combination made out a total production of 1147 XLR-V's in 2006. Price: $46,899.00 out the door.

I have test driven each car twice, and they are SWEET, just waiting for financing. Just checking to see if there are any comments from our members about these cars. Also I WILL be keeping the XFire in the stable.

I love that car!! Either way your lucky? I thought those cars were like 80grand?

More power is always better but the other one has a few less miles. It's a tough call.

EDIT::
Just looked at some pics-- Damn that car is so freakin nice. Definitely go for the XLR-V, that seems like a good price.

Only major issues I know of is the rear ends breaking in the V and some have had electrical goblins.

XLR was 75k MSRP, XLR-V was 100k MSRP... That's Crossfire depreciation there!

BTW, isn't it kind of sad that the XLR-V gets better mileage than the SRT-6?

Cool Re: Cadillac XLR and XLR-V

All of the issues that you have mentioned (and rear hydraulic break line failure) were in the 2005 production year, and have been addressed for the 2006 production year. Would definately like to get the V (and more than likely will), but I see alot of speeding tickets in my future...lol. Market for these cars has tanked just like our Xfires, the XLR was about $75k in 2006 and the V was about $100k. Not really worried about the resale value, I plan on keeping the car. I was originally looking at 2006 Corvettes and the dealer told me to take a look at these and I fell in love.

Its funny this is the car you narrowed it down to. I think this car is awesome. Its much more unique and rare than a corvette and its styling is just awesome. However you must keep in mind this is no dragster. The XLR-V certainly is but this car is predominantly about cruising and touring... much as the Crossfire was originally marketed as if I recall. I have heard rave reviews about the car. However youtube the Top Gear review of the XLR... they bash it as usual with all american cars! Still fun to watch though. Best of luck to you I think you made a great choice... if I can afford one when I get tired of the Crossfire the XLR is certainly on my short list. That and the BMW zed3 or zed4 M coupe.

Go for the V-series! The XLR is a really nice car, up until the current CTS I thought it had one of GM's best interiors.

The trigger was pulled.....the shot was fired.......but there was a casualty!!!! I could not get the financing I wanted and had to trade in my beloved Roadster Limited. Was not any easy choice, like many of you I really loved my Crossfire. The dealer was fair with trade in value, he gave me $17,500.00 trade value plus 5k off the sticker on the XLR . He also threw in 1 year OnStar , XM radio, lifetime state inspections, detail with every oil change, window etching, 30% discount on premium bumper to bumper extended warranty and 1 year paintless dent repair. I think all in all I did good. Will post pics soon, next year I will try to see if I can swing another Xfire Roadster Limited.....SRT6 maybe.

Congrats-

Can you give it to me when you get bored of it? I think that car looks like a mean version of the Crossfire.
Definitely post some pics....

You into 1 terrific car, should easily be a better ride than the Crossfire - Hate to see you go - memeber since 04 - that's a long time to spend countless hours on the forum, I see MAJOR WITHDRAWAL symptons in your future. Anyway Good Luck and enjoy the ride!

The withdrawal started immediately after I drove off the lot with XLR......my Wife shed a few tears. Passed the dealership today and my Xfire was sitting front and center on a pad with balloons attached to it.......just hope that who ever buys it will pamper it the same way we did.

The Wife can't get me out of ......lol. The ride is 1000 times better than the Xfire. The HUD is phenomenal, Bose Surround Sound...DVD based NAV...DVD player.....6 CD changer and Keyless Go are GREAT. The car handles as if is on rails. As far as comfort imagine having all the comforts of home on wheels with 325 ponies. One other plus...the insurance is $300 cheaper per year.
