Default chrysler still uses mercedes tranny,

“Dodgeguy1961” reported the following engine list in early 2009; the diesel may or may not be sold in North America.
  • 3.0 liter Phoenix V6 (possibly for export)
  • 3.0 liter Mercedes turbodiesel V6 — same as current version
  • 3.6 liter Phoenix V6 — around 290 hp
  • 5.7 liter Hemi MDS/VCT — around 360 hp (the engine itself is capable of at least 380 hp)
  • 6.4 liter Hemi (SRT) — we’d guess around 440-460 hp, with better gas mileage than the 6.1
Transmissions were up in the air. A Mercedes five-speed automatic appears to be standard at launch, as with the Grand Cherokee; a better automatic was discussed for fuel economy reasons, but gas prices have fallen, and agreements with Daimler require the Mercedes automatic. read the complete new charger,

Default Re: chrysler still uses mercedes tranny,

I recently saw a Grand Cherokee in traffic with "Diesel" on the lower right side of the tailgate. It also had the word "Bluetec" under it. Now I know Grand Cherokees hhave diesels in them, it's called the "Overland Edition" but for the Bluetec, I didn't know if it's just a badge slapped on, or if it is MBz Bluetec motor.

The 2-door XJ Cherokees had 2.8L diesels in them back in the day, they were for Canadian Export. The Liberties (KJ) had the 3.0 CRD DieselI think the 1st 2 production years?? But the WJ Grand Cherokees didn't until revised to the WK platform.
