Default Car & Driver Magazine - Tail of the Dragon

May 2011 Issue - Car and Driver Magazine takes a BMW 1M, Audi TT RS and Infiniti G37 for a test run on Hwy #129 with some mention of the road itself. Quote; "This 11-mile, kabillion-turn stretch of U.S.129 is a juking, diving, hopping, rail-free roller-coaster track where the unwary habitually overestimate their skill level. It's dangerous."

I just like the word "dangerous"..!

Good read, thanks for the link Gary. They must have closed the Dragon for the shoot because I can't think of any place on that road it would be safe to be on the left of the double yellow.

I'm out here in Tulsa, OK. cross country with the 300. This article gave me an entree to talk to a Dr. friend about the XF gtgs. The subject changed to other meets. Turns out he met his wife dragging Wooward Ave. at the big annual event. Invited me to join him for this years event with free lodgings in town! Glad I read the article. Now I've got to figure out if I can actually make the run this August. Anyone else going from the SE region?

No kidding Jim!!! A sport bike going in the other direction????Talk about a Kodak moment. Great read though. Im less than an hour from the Dragon right now, however a spirited drive in a Minivan full of Bens crap does not sound all that thrilling.

Didn't think Boni would let her babay boy leave the nest without personally supervising the move. I will be listening for your call.

You would be correct Jim, and thanks for meeting us for dinner at the BEACON. Thanks for trip around the block in your SRT. WOW WHAT A CHANGE. I see what you mean when you said your car was not running well at the Dragon this Spring. Running just fine now. Thanks again for letting me have a turn behind the wheel. BTW. what is it with us and cars with lights on top of them always around the next turn????

Interesting, our (Nissan/Infiniti) media department just emailed me and I had to confirm the part numbers for the rotors on all four corners of the IPL Coupe so they could be replaced after a certain "test" done earlier this year by Car and Driver magazine... It's our press vehicle, so I doubt it will be hitting the private market anytime soon, but still... toasted after one day on the Dragon?

Perhaps they were a bit ham-footed on the brakes?
