Re: 'Hoovies Garage' bought a $1,900 Mercedes-Benz SLK32 AMG
Not really sure how Hoovie ended up with all this $ to have thIs car collection (And this Motor Trend series AND the friendship of the Car Wizard) .....I think he is a bit of a quirk. But, maybe he could buy this car and explain it to us.

Tyler looked at a black Crossfire at Euroasion Auto, (Unrination Bob ), but he didn't buy it. I think the Car Wizard had kinder things to say about it.

In the mid-1990's after replacing the OE Magneti Marelli alternator 2 or 3 times at over $500 a pop I "adapted" (including grinding some aluminium off the block!) a GM alternator to fit and never had another alternator problem again! (1989 Spyder) As a bonus the instrument lights were brighter and it also solved the car's "slow window" disease.

Was on Motor Trend last night (Maserati). Used to reverse the diodes and put Delco alternators on Jaguars. Also adapted CS120 and CS144s to several more modern cars (BMW Turbo Diesel). Of course the modern GM seems to use mainly Denso. Seems like I put a 10SI on a FIAT 124 Spyder but was in the 70s and my memory....

I understand. All GM/Delco. All reliable alternators. I force-fit a CS130 to the Maser IIRC. In Jacksonville I took alternators to the actual rebuilder/used-alternator supplier to Pep Boys, etc. and had him install the best components possible. After that connection went away I've only bought BRAND NEW alts since then, as I had several bad experiences with rebuilds.
