Default 2012 Ford Escape Engine Overheating Issue – Need Advice

Hello everyone,

I am having an overheating issue with my 2012 Ford Escape and could really use some help. The temperature gauge keeps climbing, especially when I am idling or stuck in traffic. I’ve already checked the coolant level and it seems fine. I also made sure the fans are running, but the problem keeps happening.

Has anyone dealt with a similar issue. I am not sure if it could be the thermostat, radiator or maybe even the water pump. I would appreciate any suggestions on where to start troubleshooting or if there is a known issue with this model that I should know about.

I also read this topic on this site https://www.reddit.com/r/fordescape/comments/1ezuuv5/engine_heat_issue_on_2012_escape-golang but I could not find anything.
Thanks so much for your time and advice.

Best,
[Dianna]

Not too many Ford people here but I would suspect the thermostat first, then the radiator and lastly the water pump unless it is making noise. You didn't say how many miles on it?

Here is a trick you can do to help engine cooling. I had to do this on several different cars. Roll your windows down and run the HVAC at full blast all the way hot.
Yes you need to check the radiator, the T-stat, and the water pump.
