Meguiar's had our usual presence at Barrett-Jackson in West Palm Beach, FL from April 9-11, 2009 and I was fortunate to be part of the team this time around. Part of our agreement with B-J is to wipe down every single car before it crosses the auction block, so we got to see some interesting (and not so interesting, to be honest) cars up close and personal. Time and crowd permitting, I managed to snap a few shots. Included with each shot is the auction lot number, brief description of the vehicle and the sell price (fees included). 2009 Spyker C8 - this car was in our booth the whole time and was not up for auction. Just an amazing car - made in Holland, it has an all aluminum frame and aluminum body, weighs just 2700lbs and is powered by a 400HP Audi V8 mounted amidships. $229,000 MSRP. It came to us a bit of a mess so I had the extreme pleasure of cleaning it up. Just a little M205 on a W9207 Soft Buff 2.0 finishing pad and followed with NXT Generation Tech Wax 2.0.

This is the staging area, just before the cars enter the building and cross the block. The car in the center is Lot 650.1, 1955 Jaguar XK140 that sold for $90,750

 

Lot 671.1, 1957 Ford Thunderbird Convertible, $110,000 (this car had one of the nicest finishes at the event)


Lot 14.1, 1971 Volvo P1800, $9,900. A nice little resto-mod sort of driver for not a lot of money.


Lot 342.2, 1979 Pontiac Trans-Am, $36,300. No, Burt Reynolds was not there, but this was an extremely low mileage car as evidenced by the note on the windshield - 12,843 miles.


Lot 74, 1968 Ford Mustang Convertible, $42,350. That's Mike Joy from Speed Channel kneeling behind the car and reading some of the documentation during the TV broadcast of the auction.

 

Lot 374, 1934 Ford Custom Roadster, $49,500.


Lot 663, 1967 Buick "Gotham Cruiser", $110,000.


Lot 371, 1965 Austin-Healey 3000 MKIII BJ8, $110,000. This car was simply beyond stunning, one of the best presentations of the entire event. I want this car soooooo bad. These same guys had another Healey that crossed the block 24 hours later and brought $128,000.


Lot 349.1, 1965 Triumph TR4A, $37,400. Restored by the same guys who did the Austin-Healey above, it was equally flawless.

 

Lot 635, 1958 Plymouth Belvedere Fury Convertible, $57,750.


Lot 332.1, 1979 Alfa Romeo Spyder Veloce, $15,400. With just 3400 miles on the odo, this baby was almost brand new.


Lot 64, 1965 Lincoln Continental Limousine, $37,400.


Lot 647, 1937 Ford 3 Window Custom Coupe, $110,000

 

Lot 361, 1966 Plymouth Satellite Convertible, $44,000.


Lot 668, 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442 W30 Convertible, $173, 250. Obviously shot from sort of behind the stage, and this price was apparently a record for this make/model.


In closing, a trio of cars whose colors together just caught my eye:
