Default Smart ForTwo CDI

This is my new daily driver car project. The powertrain consists of a common rail, intercooled turbo diesel, 3 cylinder 800cc engine delivering power thru a 6 speed electronically shifted manual gear box. Fuel economy is around 4.3L/100km

Yes, not what I was expecting but......... when he adds the turbo-prop, skis and small door wings it would then be what you might expect from Mario.

Yep, 3 lug bolts. These actually are crossfire lug bolts, 15mm longer than stock for use with the spacer

You are misinformed in thinking it is designed to top at 55mph. This one does over 80mph bone stock. Available fuel/timing remapping makes these even more fun to drive

Oops, I just realized I used the wrong "break" for "brake". Good luck with your project!

I have driven one of the standard gas models here in the states and IMHO the standard model has the worst engine/acceleration and transmission of any car I have ever driven.

Is that a model that has been modded or do you guys have access to OEM turbo diesel models there? I bet with some torque it could be fun, but they are not the most attractive cars around.

Maybe some window tint is in order LOL j/k

The turbo diesel was available in Canada only for 2005-06. Most people prefer the Diesel for it's fuel economy(greater that the gas model), the main objective in the design of the car. Because the trany is electronically shifted, most people tend to compare it with automatic transmitions, which it isn't. Shifts are also known as being lengthy. Remaps are available from 20 to 60hp gains(diesel) and also speeds up the shifts. Greater torque values can be attained with the diesel as well. It's not a car for everyone but it certainly has unique attributes.

Funny you mentioned window tinting, I was just there this afternoon. I just got a quote for side windows and sunshade, $140, appointment on May 6th.

You are doing your bit to save the planet one fill up at a time and all you get is a hassle from people that you are saving gas for. Life is a beach sometimes.

yes, the famous Tridion safety cell is known to stay intact in high impacts and extreme G force, greater than the human body can endure however.

The one I drove was not impressive, fun, or attain good mileage comparatively, yours, on the other hand, sounds like it will be a great little get around car.

Post some pics when you are done. Do you know the approximate crank horse power numbers people have made with bolt ons and ECU tunes? Just curious...
