Borrowing from a few other member's ideas, I'm adding to the "For those who" series with one for tanks.
I've loved tanks since I was about six years old. My father was a loader on the M48 Patton tank in the 1950s with the 50th Armored division the "Jersey Blues".
I would later follow in his footsteps and become a driver of the M60A3 Patton in the early 1980s. I served with the 1st Armored Division "Old Ironsides".
The first tank is not my favorite, but is the actual tank that I drove. This picture was taken by me at Camp Pitman, which was on the border of West Germany and Czechoslovakia in 1984.
The M60A3 Patton MBT TTS (Main Battle Tank - Tank Thermal Sight).
My favorite tank is one of the most feared tanks of World War II.
It is the Königstiger A.K.A. King Tiger, Tiger II, or Royal Tiger. The German designation was: Panzerkampfwagen TigerAusführung B. (Sdkfz 182).
"Little Willie" was considered the first tank. It was a prototype for the British Mark I tank.
It was built in the fall of 1915 and had a top speed of 2mph. It never saw combat.
The British cruiser tank "Comet" A34. It saw service with multiple countries from 1944 - 1958 with the U.K. and as late as the early 1970s in some countries.
The Soviet Union T-34 medium tank. This tank is the most recognized tank from Eastern Front in WWII. It had 76.2mm main gun and a maximum speed of 33mph/53km/h.
It was produced from 1940 - 1958 in 3 different countries. The T-34 is still in service to this day in smaller nations.
The Italian C-1 Ariete Main Battle Tank.
This tank was produced from 1995 - 2002 and is still in service today. It has a 120mm main gun and a maximum speed of 40mph/65km/h.
Italy always has great designs no matter what the vehicle is.
Almost looks streamlined and designed in a wind tunnel.
Offence and defense were surely the design criteria but it still looks fast.
And it looks HUGE!
Thanks
Jim

The Israeli Merkava ("Chariot") IV main battle tank. Produced from 2004 to present day.
The main gun is a 120mm smooth bore and the top speed is 40mph/64km/h. The unique feature of this tank is that can carry up to 10 infantry inside and can be fitted with a toilet for long missions.
