Re: Chrysler Crossfire Garage Door Opener & Cig Lighter
If your car didn't come with a garage door opener, there is no wiring for it. You can, however, splice into the power wires of the overhead light. I did it, and it works perfectly.

Re: Chrysler Crossfire Garage Door Opener & Cig Lighter
I also got one from Mopar Parts Overstock, their shipping and handling is higher so I bought several more items to make it cost effective. I installed one I got here in the SRT. It's an easy install...take off the passenger vent cover (1/4 turn of plastic fastener, careful not to strip head); remove screw behind cover, slide trim to the right and pull forward; take and push lighter housing out from behind (plenty of wiring length); you may need to use a small trim tool or flat headed screw driver to apply some leverage on front of outlet between bezel; (housing is held in by two small clips. Took about 10 minutes.
Re: Chrysler Crossfire Garage Door Opener & Cig Lighter
Thank you very much for the reply. I assume you have not received it yet - I hope it is the silver lighter. There is no photo of it on the Mopar site. John Giaccio
Re: Chrysler Crossfire Garage Door Opener & Cig Lighter
Yes, the one I received two weeks ago from Mopar Overstock is definately the stock silver one. I've already installed it in the SRT and it works great.
Given how easy it was I ordered another one from another online Chrysler co...same part number. If it's not the same will return and order from Mopar Overstock. With my SSB, I have to jiggle the USB adapter plug back and forth...it's very sensitive. I also saw a video that shows some type of wire behind a washer that can go bad which is probably what is shorting out the outlet.
Re: Chrysler Crossfire Garage Door Opener & Cig Lighter
Dear Rpaczan, thank you for your response. Unfortunately, that item is no longer available through Mopar. Part Number: 05102786AA IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE. I do have the socket, for some reason, the lighter itself is gone. What I did as plan B - I ordered a lighter for a 2005 SLK for 12.99 with free shipping. It is black, but I hope to hit it with some Scotch Bright, and paint it silver. I think that should work, and be a lot better than an empty socket sitting there waiting for some debris to fall into it. Thanks again.
Re: Chrysler Crossfire Garage Door Opener & Cig Lighter
Hi there,
Just to let you know I had ordered a lighter element for a 2004 SLK. I received it the other day, and it does NOT fit. I hope you were sincere when you offered to send me the lighter element, I could sure use it now. I would be happy to reimburse you for it.
Thanks,
John Giaccio
