Thumbs down Buyer Beware

I recently ordered a replacement lens for the tag light. NeedsWings charged me $39.95 for only one lens. I later found this on MyMoparParts.com. It is the complete tag light assembly, not just the lens, $31.53. Did I get ripped off?

Did you need the complete assembly?
if not, you paid the price of a happy meal and milkshake as the difference and for what you needed.

I wouldn’t worry about the difference for less than $8 bucks

price is what you pay value is what you get

needswings always represents great service and for me, value

if you feel the difference was to high, best to comparatively shop before selecting “buy now”

just my thought on “did I overpay”

The short answer is yes. I have purchased parts from NeedsWings and been happy, but it does pay to shop around. I have found that shipping costs for Needswing parts too costly because of the shipping costs to Canada. I picked up most of my NeedsWings parts from Rob at meets.
Cheaper lenses may be available from a Mercedes dealer as the light unit itself is a standard Mercedes part used on other Mercedes models.
Cheaper yet are LED light units from China.

My point here is that entire assemble can be purchased for less than what I was charged for just a lens. And yes the lenses are identical.

I have to definitely agree with you, with the whole unit going for $8 less than just the lens the price is a bit too much.

The lenses will crack again if they are screwed down until the screw hits bottom as there is no pad around the screws to prevent overtightening.

You needed a lens and spent the time you wanted to find one. You found one at Needs Wings. You bought it. It arrived in perfect condition. Most people who are not "avid shoppers" pay too much for most stuff they buy, because they won't put the time in to "shop". Buying and shopping are two different things. I don't think you paid too much at all based on what you did and not on what anyone else did.

Let me restate my position. NeedsWings products are overpriced. I've learned my lesson, and will continue to share my experience. If you think I didn't pay to much I have a bridge I'd like to sell you, ha,ha.
C aveat emptor is a Latin term that means "let the buyer beware."

I know you paid more than I would for an item such as that. I find them expensive as well. I don't shop there because things I have needed are available elsewhere. My experience is that you can't pay too much for OEM items that are "no longer available" or "discontinued", when you find them. I bet I have bought some "stuff" that other people would say I paid too much. I don't think I did. Maybe a premium, but not too much. Just sayin.

OK, you have buyers remorse. Get over it. If you didn't like the whole deal, don't buy from them again. Otherwise, you sound petty. Take the advice here or not. Next time, shop around, those who shopped around sometimes came back and bought from needswings, and some didn't. Maybe they came here and complained, I don't quite remember. Good luck shopping in the future!

We sell the lenses as a set of 2 for $39.95, I do not sell them individually. Maybe you haven't opened the box yet???

"We sell them in pairs as we have never seen anyone need only 1; they always need to replace both. A pair of right and left lens covers are included."

I see post #11 has your answer.
When you buy parts for the Crossfire you should see if the part number is on the part you require. The license plate lens has this Mercedes part number on it, 230 820 01 66.
When you do a Google search using just this number you will come up with a lot of sites, some of interest and some not so much. This can give the prices of various sellers and availability. The site I give has a cost of just less than $10 each. CLICK

The site says lens which is singular, here you say lenses which is plural. Maybe noting it refers to two parts will stop any confusion.

The part # for lens cover I received from Needswings is a Mercedes Labeled box with A 230 820 010 66
44 and was made in Hungary. The # on the lens is identical to the one on the box. This part # 239 820 01 66 cannot be located go google. Part t# A 230 820 01 66 64 shows many choices. Please double check you google search. Thanks.

My issue is not how the lenses are sold, My issue is I only received 1 Lens. If you sell then in pairs, Please send the other one It's a win-win situation, you get a happy customer and I get the lens. Think about it

Thanks.
