Default Roll Bar or Cage Kit

My Crossfire is at Auto Power Industries for the design & install of a custom racing roll cage with NASCAR door bars that is SCCA, NASA, IMSA & NASCAR spec. The company is well known for their bolt in kits for sports cars and the owner, Rick asked if he thought there would be any interest from other Crossfire owners for either a full roll cage kit or street racer roll bar kit.

I told him I doubted there would be much interest for the full race cage I'm installing, but there might be some interest for a street racer type roll bar that bolts in.

While he's got my car, I figured I would post this so he could design a kit if there was any interest. I don't know what a kit would cost, but his others run anywhere from $350-$700.

You can check out his company website at: http://www.autopowerindustries.com

This is an old post but I was wondering if you did get a full cage and can you direct me to someone to look at getting one. I tried the link and called but the person I spoke with gave me a quick "No" for the crossfire.

Thanks,
Mark

Sounds like he wore them out on the first one...lol.....they won't be easy. I looked into it a few years ago, when I thought I would drag race the roadster. I gave up and bought a coupe to play with rather than ruin a good looking car. Good luck though...

hehe, me too. WOW, Derek's back...oh...no he's not
I worked on a show with him a few years ago but haven't heard from him since. Wonder what he's up to and what he's done with his car?

I've digested all his posts. Search is your friend, it's the truth. Study history or be condemned to repeat it. I really miss some of the original members. Remember 240? He tried everything. I hope in the future my threads help someone.

Definately post pictures on any caged crossfires. I will not need it right now but want to look into it if that changes. Mounting points are the most critical....

Thanks,
Mark

Thanks.....I had not seen those photos, so I guess I did not dig far enough in the site. I now understand why when I asked Autopower if they make cages for a Crossfire why they were so abrupt with thier "NO". Looks like he did not attach to the bulkhead at all and had a tube just over it. Hmmmm....

That helped a lot!

Mark

P.S. You may have just saved me from looking at a Cobalt SS.....

I guess I better never run faster than 11.49, 'cause I am not doing that to my car...

I just saw these pic.'s for the first time. He went all out, wow! What was amazing to me was that nobody responded after he posted those. Everyone must have been speechless, lol.

I agree it is an amazing job. I am going to hold this year as I am hoping to just stay in DS. I thought I might need it for track days and was told it was not neccesary. I will wait until after this season is over to see if it is as much fun as dragging your knee on the pavement at 60+ on two wheels. Funny thing is.....I think it will be!

No cage is required for my racing either. I dream of wheel to wheel but never in a SRT-6. Parts are too hard to find and expensive when you inevitably make contact with another car or wall.

I am running a N/A so it is not quite as much as an investment as an SRT. If I really get into this, modifications(...and cage) may follow. I roadraced bikes over the years but want to transition. Hopefully I figure out the process to get to the track. It appears that the Crossfire is still an unknown to a lot of folks out there. My Crossfire will be the only one in the club I am joining for auto-x.

Love being diffrent....

Mark
