Default Racing Brake Fluid

HDDP

You still recommend using this brake fluid?

ATE Super Blue Racing Brake Fluid at: http://www.raceshopper.com/ate_brake_fluid.shtml

Going to run Streets this 22nd. Gonna be hot as hell for sure. Can I leave this after my run or should I switch back to regular DOT3 fluid? How much of this do i need BTW?

Or anyone who actually races has any other recommendation?

I use superblue and its gold colored counterpart - TYP-200. If you've never flushed/bled your brakes before, I would suggest getting two liters. Superblue is fine to run on the street after the event.

If you're going to be doing a lot of track events. Castrol SRF is far and away the best brake fluid money can buy --- (though it’s expensive - $75!!) Most that use it only change it once a year.

ATE SuperBlue is good, ATE manufactures all of the brake components in the Crossfire, the stock fluid is ATE as well. You can keep it in the car forever. You won't notice any pedal difference during regular driving conditions the fluid is really only better for heavy use when regular brake fluid tends to boil.

Two cans will completely flush the system with a bit left over. I would get a "good" pressure bleeder, or have a shop do it for you with a pressure bleeder only. Don't fiddle around with bleeding the system by pumping the pedal (since you're going to be running on the track)... If it was just a daily driver I would do it the pedal pump way, but not if you're going to be on the track next to me... LOL

I'm planning on running California Motor Speedway on Friday, but you're tempting me to join you instead. Which group are you running with ? As long as it's not Speed Trial USA, I might join you instead of going to CMS.

I see its Redline Track Events. I'm going to give them a call and see how booked-up they are... I'll let you know my decision... It'll be much cheaper than the $340 fee for CMS. Plus I like that little track because it doesn't require high HP to be competitive... But it's going to be hotter than heck out there... If I go, I'll bring my tent, chairs and cooler.

Looks like 27 entries, not including you, mostly low HP cars. They're running the track counter clockwise. COUNT ME IN !!! Give me a call when you get a chance and we can coordinate 310.291.1372.

I'll have to arrive early and line-up at the gate before it opens because I'll be trailering my car and need to get a good spot in the paddock area for the truck and trailer and set-up the tent.

Are you going to run intermediate or advanced ? I'll sign-up for advaned, but can drop a bracket to run with you if you want.

PS: if you haven't been out to the track in the past month, They were forced to raise the price of 100 octane race gas to $6.00 gal. so, you might want to think about filling-up before you get to the track. I'll bring 5 gallons of my 115 octane fuel booster that we can mix with 93 pump gas to make our own 100 octane.

I'll also see if I can con one of my camera operators to come out and shoot the event for us on a Panavision HD camera. I just got a new Apple G5 Final Cut Pro HD edit system that I need to play with.

Talk to you soon.

I'm still waiting on a response from Redline to see if they have spots available for their driving class. It's limited to 10 people and there's 3 of us trying to sign up. Two of my friends have never run so I've told them they should take it. I'm also taking it as a CYA for my insurance just in case something bad happens.

If they say it's filled up then we will end up going to ButtonWillow. They have HDPE going on at the same day.

But yeah, would be great if you can join us too.

I'll let you know as soon as I hear from Redline.

Where do you get 93 octane? Been looking everywhere.

My friend and I just signed up so i'm going for sure. Hoping to get another friend to join up.

It's my first time running Streets so definitely i'll be running with the beginners group. And no, no need to drop down in groups to run with me. :-)

Actually, if you have your passenger seat back on, i'd like to ride with you and take a video so I see the lines your taking and learn from it, if that's cool with you.

Lastly, you don't happen to have extra of that brake fluid lying around do you? I just bought some from raceshopper but wont be getting it till next tuesday. I was hoping to get it by Saturday so I can have Ron's Tires and Wheels change it out for me.

If you do, can ya give me some and i'll replace it as soon as my shipment comes?

I only have a 1/4 can left. you can buy some from Porterfield down in OC. I just called my buddy's porsche race shop and they are only carrying the castrol... $85 per can. YIKES !

Glad to hear you and your buddies are in... I'm bringing a friend of mine who races Karts because Nick from Redline told me they were having a kart group run as well. I'll just throw his kart in the back of the truck.

If you have Ron's do your brake bleed, make sure you go to the one on Sherman Way, the other one doesn't do brakes. I would call first to make sure they have a pressure bleeder.

Do you happen to have Porterfield's phone #. Tried googling and can't find them.

Hernan:

Gotta be honest with you, it was 107 degrees at Willow Springs today... If the weather continues to be this hot, I'm going to bag-out of next weekend. Not for my comfort, but the health of the car and tires. The track temps had to be somewhere in the range of 250...

I'll keep an eye on the weather thru Thursday and let you know...

Looks like a cooling trend thru the weekend. Count me in... I'm on the list running in group A.

Do you know any one else that can do this at last minute or with no appointments? Tried Ron's at sherman way and they said they can't do the car. They refererred me to Hans German Car but i need to have an appointment. I can't take time off from work right now.

Thanks for the offer. Went to the dealer today for an oil change and got them to change the brake fluid too. Got 2 extra liters of the brake fluid if you need them.

My concern now are my tires. They're getting pretty worn out. Most likely will need to change them before the next track run. Are you going to bring spares? :-)

What time are you thinking of heading out? If it's way too early for me then I'll just see you there.

I'll check in my garage tonight, I have an extra set of 19" mounted on ACE wheels which I don't use anymore and I may have a couple of 18" unmounted. I'll bring them in the back of the truck incase you want to use them for the track, I think the 19's have new Pilot Sport Cups, but I'll have to check.

I want to be at the gate @ 7 am when it opens because I have to unload the trailer etc. I'll probably leave Burbank at about 5:15 am. It takes me a bit longer since I'm towing the trailer. Perhaps I can enlist your help with the pop-up tent when you get there.

I'll try to get a spot right next to the garage building.
