SOWS Track Video / Photos
First I would like to say thank you to srt6_crossfire (Hernan) and his friends for helping me set-up the tent. Actually, it was nice meeting his buddies, even though one drives a "RICER" JK . They are true racing junkies. I hope they continue to run the tracks in So. Cal., I'll join them anytime.
We surely did not have the ideal weather for ANYTHING at Willow Springs Raceway on Saturday, let alone sports car racing, it was 110 degrees in the shade. But, I did find out that the Crossfire engine can be abused beyond my expectations.
My car ran like a champ and engine temperatures stayed within normal limits (I was shocked), though certain components got so hot during my runs, I boiled the power steering fluid out of the reservoir and had overflow spray inside the engine bay.
This was the first time I ran the car since the recent mods. I'm a happy camper because the handling was superb
considering the weather and the fact that this was the first time in 15 years that I drove the "Streets Of Willow Springs" in reverse direction (counter clockwise).
Here's a couple of clips.

I have 18 minutes of edited in-car video (290mb) uploading to my website for those of you who want to spend the time to DL it. http://www.hollywooddigitalimaging.com/SOWS_7_22_06.mov IMO it's well worth the time, because you'll see that the Crossfire can become a very viable track car.
Here are some photos of srt6_crossfire on the track... That darn SRT6 Crossfire smokes...

And here's my mess... Have you ever seen a Crossfire like this ?

No, it's us that owes you a big THANK YOU! That tent made the waiting part tolerable. Danny's little off-roading gave him a little scare at the end but am sure he's hooked. I can't wait for the next time. End of september here yet? LOL
Best part for me was my third session when I had one of the instructors drive with me. Prior to us going out, the lead instructor was kinda ragging on my car being an automatic and some other B.S. He got on an '06 M3 to ride with another newbie. Anyway, i ended up passing his newbie driver that HE was instructing and gave me a thumbs up once we got back to the garage.
Thanks for my pic btw, i now have a decent wallpaper.
Here's a couple of vids I took with my digital cam. I still need to get the vids that GT took out of the DV tape.

My Hoosier tires did well, although I really didn't run that many laps, it was way too hot... I'm sure it took a toll on everyone's rubber, not to mention mechanical parts...
I'm staying away from the desert tracks till the end of summer...
Derek.... and we we're complaining about the heat, LOL... check out one of the instructor's comment... he was the one that rode with me. too funny...
"Damn, it was so freaking hot both Saturday and Sunday. I was very exhausted already after jumping into 6 students' cars (3 on each day). Especially the last one which his car was overheating a little so we were driving with the damn heater on the entire session. Talk about additional heat in an already 110+°F day".

Those are outstanding pinstripes Brother... I was looking at my Crossfire the other day and was running it around inside my head as to what a pinstripe would do for the car... I really like the ones you got... I'm startin to feel the need, hooah.
Your Crossfire is very nice Doc, shame most crossfire owners’ just buy'em for the looks... I would really enjoy seeing one out on the street rattling a few windows and shaking the ground people are standing on when it passes by... I would kick my Crossfire in the azz if not for that freaking warranty, but who knows I may get a wild hair up my rear in and do something with it any how...
Were you and Woody running the same air intake setup while doing the Dyno? If you were, do you think both of you guys could have been suckin to much hot air (accounting for your lend F/A ratio), if you did suck hot air then it would just reinforce my comment concerning the "Knock Sensor" killing the RPM.
Leave it to me to get off in left field, outstanding Crossfire brother, keep whipping that azz out there... HOOAH
