SRT meets the 1/4 for the first time
I went to the Texas Motorplex with the Texas Muscle Car Club Challenge today to score some points for my club and try the SRT on the 1/4 for the first time.
The day started out pretty good. The temps were in the low 60s and the air was good.
I drove the car to the track with 1/4 tank of 93 octane and ran it in street trim. The car is bone stock with 8,100 miles on the clock.
Here's the best pass of the day (I'm car 529L):

I think that's pretty good for this little guy. An SRT-8 Charger and SRT-8 300C were both in attendance and ran 13.40s. The Crossfire was loving the cool air.
Quite frankly, I am amazed that I was able to hook the Continental Touring Contact turds. They don't hook on the street but pulled the wee beastie off the line nicely. It did have a tendency to wiggle the rear through second gear so I think it's spinning after the gear change.
The 1/8th is fairly soft but this little guy is pouring on the coals afterwards.
I really got a kick out of the track announcer talking about "that Crossfire". Every time I went to the line he'd start talking about the car, wondering aloud what I'd done to make it so quick and cheering me on while I ran down the slower '05 Mustang GT (see above slip).
Picking up 24 mph in the top half of the track isn't too shabby for a bone stock car.
Here's a picture of the car at Redline Raceway. It's an 1/8th mile track east of Dallas. Temps were in the 90s and the car couldn't break out of the 8.80s.

Here's one of me putting the hurt on the same 300C SRT-8 at the same track.

Sorry, no pics from today.

Nicely done! Can't wait to get my SRT6 on the track with HDDP and see what it will do. Wheee!
Have fun... be safe...

You came to mind this weekend Derek. I was wondering what you could do on the track with an SRT and your stickies. I don't know how the suspension compares to what you've done but the power would have to add a wee bit.
I honestly have not done a 1/4 mile with the car, not my kind of racing, nor is the car really set-up for drags... But you bring up a good question... I'm sure a stock SRT would take me by at least a second +++. I'm still only getting 192 hp to the wheels, but have a weight savings of 540 lbs over the SRT which usually equates to 1 hp per 10 lbs. The only thing I can compare it to is that I can come through turn 9 at Willow Springs into the 1,800 ft straight away at about 40 mph then stomp on it and hit 115 before I have to brake for the next turn. so basically + 75 mph in about 1,600 ft.
I was thinking more about the road course.
I'm wanting to take this one out to the Motorsports Ranch but not until it's got good enough tires to make it worth while.
This morning, I was taking a long clover leaf entrance ramp at a moderate speed. The slightest throttle input, no matter how smooth, had the front end pushing and tires squealing. I used to take this ramp MUCH faster in me Shelby Charger and about the same speed in my '65 Plymouth.
