Drag racing can be pretty fun, and once you go you realize that it isn't just flooring it when the light goes green. There a skill to drag racing, even in a atx car.

I was looking on the carforums.net site to get an idea if my 1/4 times are in-line with testing. I found the 1/4 mile info to be 14.7 and the 0-60 of 6.4 sec. That's should be doable after seeing 14.9 on Friday. So, does anyone have an idea of just how much of an improvement I would see by doing the Speed Innovation Tuning Upgrade? I believe the increase was about 20hp at the wheel.

Greetings,

Go to www.dragtimes.com and follow the link to the horsepower calculator.

Plugging in 14.7 e.t./96 mph/3,250 lbs. as-raced weight (car, driver, gas) = 213.32 hp. Pretty much right on the stock HP rating !

Plug in 14.3 e.t./98 mph/3,250 lbs. = 229.20 HP

Pretty darned close to the claimed HP of the S.I. chip upgrade.

Probably be tough to actually turn that kind of e.t.s given these car's traction control systems and shifters but I'd bet the mph numbers to be right on. Top-end mph numbers are a better measure of actual horsepower. Speed/weight/time/distance is how horsepower is calculated after all.

Slim,

When you say top-end, do you mean top-speed at the end of the 1/4 mile or actual maximum top speed the car can achieve? If the speed at the end of the 1/4 is what you had in mind then I was doing 94 when I crossed the line on my 14.9 run.

Thanks!
