Default Stock 1/4 run today...

I along with a few buddies went to the track for the first time with the SRT6.

I ended up with 8 total runs between 10 am and 2:30 pm when we left.

Run 1
60' = 2.134 | 1/4 mile = 13.561 @ 103.21 mph

Run 2
60' = 2.228 | 1/4 mile = 13.886 @ 103.32 mph

Run 3
60' = 2.105 | 1/4 mile = 13.540 @ 103.44 mph

Run 4
60' = 2.084 | 1/4 mile = 13.404 @ 104.01 mph

At this point, i thought this was the best i could do on this day...

Run 5
60' = 2.474 | 1/4 mile = 14.342 @ 103.67 mph

Run 6
60' = 2.046 | 1/4 mile = 13.458 @ 102.83 mph

Run 7
60' = 2.093 | 1/4 mile = 13.472 @ 104.14 mph

I figured what the hell, 1 more run before i call it quits... I'm glad i went 1 more time...

Run 8
60' = 1.948 | 1/4 mile = 13.338 @ 102.93 mph

I think i might be able to get more out of the car, maybe down as much as 13.19's in its 100% stock setup... i basically showed up, paid and went right to the staging lanes... i didn't lower the tire pressure at all, nor did i reset the fly by wire controls. On top of which we must of been going into a 20 mph straight on head wind.

Fflores, I noticed that you had a 30 day tag on your car, how many miles do you have on it? The more miles you put on it, the better it should run.
It looks like by run #8 you learned the trick to launching it with that under 2 sec. 60'.
You might want to work on that reaction time though. Are you leaving when the last yellow comes on?
Those were some pretty good times!

It's Test and Tune... the R/T plays no part in my times. If it was bracket racing, then it would be a different story.

I did just pick up the car about 3 weeks ago... but the car now has 7,300 miles on it or so, it was a corporate lease for a year prior to my ownership of it.

I did get the hang of it at the end. I brake spooled it to 1,300 - 1,500 rpms or so, and let of the brake fast and rolled into the gas to the floor... I also left the trac control on.

That's cool, I just use to take every opportunity I had when ever I staged, to practice cutting the light the best I could, that's all.
The next time you go back, it would be interesting to see what it would do without the traction control on.
With 7K miles on it, it should be well "broken in" by now.

Seems like the times match factory claims. So often that is not the case. The coupe looks slippy, how do the vert's run?

When i did turn off the trac control it would spin the tires... i am on the continental tires. I imagine that it is well broken in by now also.

I've run my last 2 new cars with the 30 day tags on em too.
Every hundred lbs is a tenth, and that paper tag is lighter than steel.

Not a bad day at the track at all! You do feel like a king and on top of the world at the end of the day, especially when you can drive the car home and not tear anything up. Oh yea baby!!

I do miss my time at the track. I used to own and drive a top comp for a few years. Sold it 3 years ago. Way fun but lots of work and real expensive.
One thing for sure, when you pull the chute at the end of a run, you have a grin so big that a bulldozer could not wipe it off! What a rush!

Low 13's is common for a stock Mag with out heat soak and a decent DA.
Here in KC we're @ 1,500 ft and with decent weather it's not unusual.

I won the quick 16 @ the SRT Nats in Topeka last year and we were mostly running 13.4 and 5's but it was July and darn near 100* the whole time.

FYI the SRT8 class was all 3 types of LX and a couple jeeps, including Herb the lead SRT engineer. In spite of the weight difference, no one type stood out. My Mag is Silver BTW so that must be the fastest color.

Please re-post these URL's. One is bad and the other just gives text. I own a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.9, and would love to see the GC SRT8 video.

Thanks.

Sorry about that, i forgot to mention that you should "Right-Click" and then "Save-as" on the links and download them to your hard drive... then you can open the file from your hard drive and watch the videos. One of the links did need to be renamed... they should both work now.

Negative. This what they can do in great air...

http://www.ls1gto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=50114

You should search around on the SRT-8 boards. 107-109 mph traps are commonplace. Just need some traction and good air. They are fast. I really researched them when I came close to buying one.

The Jeep runs low 13's and so do the rest of the SRT-8's. Hell even alot of mags have run low 13's. And we both know they always don't get the best times for cars. 14.4@98 or something like that for a stock SRT-4. lol.

I took my Limited 6 speed out Friday after work and ran a best 1/4 of 14.9 @ 93 mph. Its totally stock so I was not sure I could get into the 14's. I missed 3rd and 4th several times but not on the best run. The shifter in these things really suck compared to my Miata's which I NEVER missed a gear in. I believe the car has a 14.7 in it but I'm not sure I'm the driver to do it.

I ran against some buds with a 330 BMW, RX8, STI and Impala. The STI's were putting down 300 at the wheel and were running 13.1's and 2's. The 330 and RX8 were at best 14.9 and 14.8 respectively. It was blast!
