I found this very interesting... These are current standing records for the various racing classes at Willow Springs International Raceway. Michael Andretti holds the fastest time in CART.

Those number are very fast if this is for the big course and not the streets!

Odd though that no one has set a new record in the last 10 years. Was the track altered or lengthened since the last records?

 

It's for the big track... Michael Andretti and Nigel Mansel's times are so fast, I can't imagine... They're some 30 seconds faster than my best time in the Crossfire. Considering the track is only 2.5 miles that would mean being lapped on the third lap at a closing speed over 40 mph... The track is exactly the same as it's been for 30 years, except for new pavement...
