Cool Base Roadster Autocrossing

Hey guys,

I have a base roadster (6-spd manual) that I have been autocrossing since last spring. Being new to all this, I have been running my car bone stock on Michelin PS2's, and they should last at least until the end of this season. Once they wear out, I will definitely switch to the setups I've been reading about in this forum. The one thing I really need to change is the front camber, it is destroying the outside of the tires. I'm hoping to take it to an alignment shop this week to install the camber bolts.

Overall, I think the car is really competitive. My strongest competition are SRT4 ACR's and VW Golf R32's. On my first event of this season, I finally took my first win against them after finishing third overall last season. There are other cars in our class but they're really not as competitive.

Anyway, just wanted to say hello and let you all know that the roadster is plenty capable too.

Thanks for all the tips I've read in other threads.

Marco,

I have also found that the capability of my 2005 Limited is far better than I was expecting. Last year I placed in the top ten out of 80 cars in a local Mercedes club. Not too bad for rookie than ran 2 of those events with all season tires. Once I upgraded to BFG KDWII they really helped although these tires now seem a little hard for autocross but they are great for the street.

This season I am running 2nd in DS to an experienced driver with a R32. Not likely to beat him but it is fun to set his time as my goal. I even placed the 5 FTD(fast time of day?)in my last event out of 55 cars. Every car that was faster had a dedicated set of tires. So, guess I know what to buy with my tax refund check!

We are down on power to many but the handling and great brakes really make it fun.

Good luck with your season!

Here is a link from last year with some cool autocross pictures.
