TnT tonight for the first time ever...best 13.23
Ok, so this was the first time I've ever gone drag racing and I have to say I was a little surprised with myself and a little disappointed with the car (but it probably the driver
). I have to admit it was a little hot, ~92F and obviously humidity was around 80 - 100% when I first got there. Track conditions were pretty good, it seemed like people were hooking up but I'm sure it could be better. There's a TnT on Saturday morning so I'm hoping they'll prep the track before the TnT for the afternoon event.
It was a fun experience to say the least and I'm looking at ways to shave off some 1/10ths to break into the 12s. I only have an intake on my car and a sprintbooster. I made 7 runs all together but I'm posting 5 of them because 2 were throw aways but I'll post them in the order of how I ran them. The first couple were breaking my cherry and my best one's were my last 2 (even though there was a throw away in between them).

The 5th one, though slower was my favorite since I pretty much walked a decently modded M3. I obviously got the holeshot but he was never close and I think I ended up close to 4 car lengths at the end. We also had a treat to see a guy come out with his Bentley GT Speed Mulliner, absolutely stunning and the craftsmanship is like no other. He could only get a 12.7 throughout the night and he was pretty disappointed on that so I bet I'll be seeing him again with a modified ECU. Either way a $250K car at the track was pretty cool to see
Anyway, the numbers are there and I can't seem to get below a 2.0 on the 60'. I didn't feel like I was slipping at all and I was launching with the car manually in 1st, revving it to 1600RPM and keeping the T/C ON. I tried with it off and couldn't hook up.
Any ideas of what to do to get the 60' foot times down...keep the TC on but rev it a little higher?? I am running stock Conti's and not Pilots so the All-Season tires might not want to grab as much, but would that make up nearly .2?
I do plan on removing the resonator (or go full 2.5 or 3" exhaust in the back soon), heatwrap the intake since it's so damn hot and possibly heat wrap the exhaust when it gets done. I'm going to try to find a place that can dyno my car so I can see what my HP numbers are.

I bought my 05 srt-6 on a Monday, in Gainsville drove it to ft lauderdale,, then took it to moroso Palm Beach two days later ran 13.40 @ 105 then came up with the grille mod went back the next wed. 13.25 @ 108 ,100% stock so we are about the same ,,i left with tc off at idle eased it to the floor in like 10 feet no spinning 2.0 60 ft ,, with tc on 14.00 and 13.99 what mods do you have i am making a intake ,, made one for my pt , it was so good i sold over 200 of them ,, check my gallery for the one i made and it being under the hoos filter it did nothing for the 1/4 mile jim
I saw the grille mod and think it's a good idea. I've got a NeedsWings intake and the filter doesn't have that much surface area to draw cooler air from. I'll end up doing this mod tomorrow since I'm going back to the track Saturday morning. I'll bring some Ice and hopefully it'll be a little cooler and less humid at 10am than 6pm like tonight.

gator.. i wont be able to make it this weekend.. i will be in orlando for my girlfriends runway fashion show. i was just reminded that i have to attend. but i should be able to come to the one in a few weeks you were talkign about.. is anyone else coming? we should make it a get-together..
Gator, don't be too disappointed. I would put money on the fact that it's the traction control that is holding you back. When it kicks in, it deliberately pauses before allowing the engine to resume full power. That delay isn't too significant while driving around. But when you're racing it'll cost you big. Some say it costs you 2 tenths in the 1/4.
Completely stock, my best was 13.30 @ 107. Also, my track is at 1200 altitude. You should be doing better in Florida. But that heat is definitely costing you too.
I wish I knew the key to a good launch in the SRT. I got a 60' of 1.8 - once. I really wish I knew how I did it. I usually get 2.0~2.1. I spin on launch everytime.
But I'm certain that with a good launch (no spin out), and your TC off, you will break 12's.

The key to a good launch is a well preped track. While racing this sunday on race day not a t/t day I had two runs right after they spayed VHT all the way to the out to 330. My car did not spin at all. If it was not heat soaked it would have been a 1.7 60 and not a 1.85. As all of us know the heat kills the fun
Well I went saturday and went with the TC off. Not much wheel spin but the heat was killer....101*F on the track (at least that's what my temp guage said) and I could only muster a 13.4 w/ a best 2.1 60'. I'm really not that worried but the heat really does kill times.
There was a new 335i there that was stock and he was only getting 13.9.

Yeah, heat is a killer. I'm not looking forward to this Friday's races. Forecast is for 97* F! In Ohio! In June! WTF?! That's a far cry from the 40's, 50's and 60's I was seeing in recent weeks.
I'll let you know what I run, as I just put on my NeedsWings CAI.
