bragging rights!
Yep, most of them run one tire spinning 15.8's and that's in the the winter. Last one I seen the other night was in the 16's. I'll be at firebird on the 16th for a points race. I'm running slow with this heat. My fastest at the last race was a 13.20 @105mph. I'm putting my stock tires back on, because with those times I don't need to waste my DR's. Good luck at SIR.
In the winter my best was a 12.52, but all my runs were in the 12.50's that day. Track was good, conditions were good. I still don't have an ECU tune yet either. Just a 178mm pulley and the needswing intake. I'm hoping after a tune, and when needswings has the new manifolds ready that I'll be in the 12.20's or better this winter.
Looks like someone bought an srt6 in Tucson. Maybe you can convince him to go with you. Check out the group buy section for the needswings group #2. You should get in on it. It' saving quite a few bucks, and it will make a difference. The guys screen name is ohnoeaz.
had a good run with a volvo this past weekend. i cant recall what the model was something 60 awd turbo. we both blew by an SS cobalt and he pulled out a car or two but couldnt loose me went again from a roll and he pulled a fender and couldnt loose me. then to my advantage we caught a light. out of 1st i put him back but then i missed second he put two cars on me. damn i wish i wouldnt have missed 2nd!!! o well tho it was a good rush!
You car is probably a strong contender for 14's. Be sure to save some gas money for this winter. At least come to firebird and try it. Both speedworld and firebird are just as fast tracks. Your elevation will cost you a few tenths.
I raced at Firebird a few weeks back and lost in the semi's. It was pretty hot and I was running 13.2's to 13.3's. Then cooled the car down and ran too fast and broke out. Can't wait to get back into the 12's.

youll have to give me the date for a winter tnt. im feeling pretty good i put down a s2k twice tongiht. i really want to break 14s. i checked my sea lvl times on one of the stupid calculators and turns out i would have gone a 14.8... without my tune and injectors. so i think im driving it right!!! hopefully high 14s when i hit phoenix in the winter!
alot actually! im lookin at getting new rear tires next month anyway (19s dont last worth a crap) hopefully it helps out. last time at the track i peeled all through 1st and half through 2nd. this with combination humidity and temp i ran a 15.8
. it had to have been the conditions tho becausde i was still beating the ss cobalts and all the ricers. im not sure what the rsx type s are suppose to run but i they were running like 16.3s and im sure ive heard those run in the 15s high 14s. any suggestions for tires? somthing reasonably priced?
I would get a set of drag radials if your going to be hitting the track often. Your regular tires start to leave chunks behind after a while. If you come down here in the winter, I'll bolt up mine and let you make some passes. You'll be in the 14's for sure. My last set were toast otherwise I would have given them to you. Unfortunately drag radials arent cheap.
yea i was lookin at trying to get a diff rim tire set for the track but i just dont have the funds! i did notice that hoosier makes a autox slick in 19" what do you make of this? you think it would work for the drags!
The 19" have the same tread pattern as the drag radials. The guy that holds the fastest time for an srt6 runs them. I'll ask and see how they are holding up. They are not cheap though, and not durable enough to run on the street and last. I'd say one of the cheapest is the 16" or 17" rim and tire. Not sure when the next big race is in Tucson, but I'll be out there when it cools down.
your comin down here? yeah i understand there alittle expensive but im a former discount tire employee the guys over there let me use their stuff so i could change the tires before going out to the track. and itd be cheaper then buying rims and tires? about 300 a tire. maybe cheaper if they give me a discount. still cant afford it but its a thought! haha
See if they can find you a pair of those 17"x8 voxx wheels with 20mm offset that keeps going up discount tire ebay for cheap. They have had some scratch and dent ones for way cheap. Maybe they can order in a few sets and accidently scratch a pair. Sounds good. Then get the cheapest pair of drag radials out there. 17" are more common and maybe you can get a used pair coming off a mustang or camaro. I'll hit craigslist and see whats out there.
i like how tvt spits the truth at least, guys i have a 04 z it is 6spd. and just intake and exhaust, basically stock and it is much much faster than my crossfire. I just ran it at the track with shitty tires pulled 2.1 60ft times and ran consistent 13.7, and 13.8 times at 102(first time ever taking it to the track). Once i get some good tires i will pull mid 13's basically stock, how can that even be compared. I guess the only way it would be close would be if the z driver has never driven standard in his life or somthing, either way they don't even compare car wise the z is much better put together, don't get me wrong my crossfire was a nice looking car, but any way you compare the two it is an uneven match the z outperforms the crossfire in any way you try to compare them. And let me tell you what fun is with the ability to turn the damn trac. control off
..I like the crossfire and all but don't go thinking it is faster than a z in any way, now this is not to the srt-6 guys those cars do move, but i will run one all day, lol. can't wait for the twin turbos to get put on over winter along with my hoosier slicks i just picked up on weldlight 15" wheels. 11's on the way
well thats just crazy, and horrible driver or something, my first ever run with the z and slowest to date is a 14.1 at 100, go to my350z.com and check out the top 25 list of times, there are bone stock z's running mid 13's and the new z's are even faster. do some research cause if you think that is what i z should run thats crazy too.
im just sayin not all tracks are perfect condition (low elevation low humidity low temp etc..) given the right conditions im sure some of the na's we have out there are running very low 14s and thats not to far off from your Z. i no probably the best posted stock Z is 13.7. i give you props im just sayin their not all their cracked up to be and the styling is poor! and trust me you dont hang with srt's.
