Default Went to OSW to test my Code3 Pulley

So I went to Orlando Speed World last night to see what the Code3 pulley would do for me.
This was my second time ever at a track. Temperature was about the same each night... about 84F in July and 80F last night.

FYI, all my time slips are in my gallery.

Last time I went was in July for the GTG. My best run that night was:

60': 2.201
1/8 ET: 8.751
1/8 MPH: 82.77
1/4 ET: 13.416
1/4 MPH: 105.30

My mods were just the Needswings CAI. I also have Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's, left at stock pressure.

Last night my best were:

60': 2.005; 2.095
1/8 ET: 8.418; 8.486
1/8 MPH: 83.99; 84.92
1/4 ET: 13.026; 13.051
1/4 MPH: 106.82; 107.56

So, the Code3 pulley dropped my 1/4 ET by .4 and I gained 2 MPH.

Couple of funny stories about last night. When I was at the booth paying my admission, the lady asked all the eqipment questions; Long pants, closed-toe shoes, helmet. When I said yes, I have a helmet, the cop at the gate said, "You need a helmet in THAT?". So I told him about my best run back in July and the lady replied, "Yep!". Loved the look on the cops face.

So the other story is after I got in the staging lanes, waited a bit before the line started moving, then everything stopped. So I figured someone leaked on the track or broke down. Turns out that a guy brought his Viper convertible to run. Apparently he slammed on his brakes after crossing the finish line and they locked up on him. He ended up hitting the wall, doing some major damage. They had to tow it off the track. I saw it sitting in a field near the end of the track after I did my first run. He must have been in the left lane, because I didn't see any damage on the passenger's side, but it sat there for most of the night.

My last run of the night (which ended up my worst run), I raced a 350z. He beat me off the tree, R/T of .159 to my .737. He ended up beating me to the finish, but our times were:

For him:
R/T .159
60': 2.129
1/8 ET: 8.708
1/8 MPH: 84.21
1/4 ET: 13.272
1/4 MPH: 106.36

For me:
R/T .737
60': 2.083
1/8 ET: 8.532
1/8 MPH: 84.07
1/4 ET: 13.135
1/4 MPH: 106.87

Gave him a thumbs up in the parking lot aftwards. He wasn't too happy, though. His Z isn't stock. I couldn't really hear all the mods he said he had... there were some loud cars there making it difficult to hear. But, I did hear him say he has nitrous. A 75 shot, which he spayed during our race. I think he was expecting to beat me by quite a bit more.

Anyway, thought I'd share. I had a blast and can't wait for the temps to drop. I really would like to get into the 12's with my current mods. I would love to get a tune, but can't at the moment.

I didn't make to the track today as planned, but I have new F1's as well, and so far they seem very slick to me...seem to come out of the hole OK, but on corners, they are still slippery...did yours do this, and do they get better after getting scuffed in...wish I had went late to the track to at least get a few runs in...I will try a local track next Wed night...but they usually require a helmet, which hasn't arrived yet...now back on subject, with my old tires just about shot and 90 degree heat, my best time was 12.61 ET, @ 110.86 MPH, 60 FT was 1.96 and reaction was .3100...so I am worried about the F1's hooking up, but I see you haven't had a tune, so that may be the big difference...just got to get back to the track I quess...nice work though...

I wouldn't say they feel slick in corners, but I was expecting more traction then they are giving. My car came with the Conti's, so the F1's are an improvement. But I have nothing to compare it against. This is my first powerful RWD car so I have no idea what to expect from it performance wise and have never driven another SRT6. I did put these on back in May and have put quite a few miles on them, so I really don't remember how they felt in the beginning. Only that they hooked up better than the Conti's.

I figure that either the humidity here is really killing my performance or I have a weaker motor than most. GatorLCA posted in this thread that he ran a 13.078 @ 107.97 with a 1.999 60' on all-season tires. That's with just a Needswings CAI and cooling mods. That was at Bradenton Motorsports Park, so maybe the prep the track better? Or I need to upgrade my cooling. Regardless, I need to practice some more. I do feel the tires spinning just a bit when I take off. My launches could definitely be smoother.

F1s are VERY temperature sensative. I have them on my MSRT and when the temp drops in to the 50-60 range or lower they are slick.
"Summer Only" Tires thats for sure.

OSW is a pretty well prepped track IMO. I ran a 13.14 last time I was there but that next week it was cold so I went out to track locally and ran my pants off. I was consistently hitting the 13.1x. I was also using stock tire pressure.

Once you get those 60' times down you should lose about .2 - .3 sec off the ET. Some of my better runs have been when I've spun a little but that 13.07 run the tires straight hooked when I brake launched at 1500 RPM.

I also take off all my grilles when I run so that might help me out a little bit

Keep at it, you will be in the 12's easy with just the NW without a tune. Practice your launch, that is key to great times.

cruzinquick and Rob are becoming my heros, got to get DR's and Mani's over the winter...cause, I don't think the F1's are going to do it...good work guys, and I agree the launch is everything, that 12.6 came on very hot day, slick track, and tires that were all but gone, so I can't wait to run again....
