Ugh. Lots of new parts, and I go slower.
Time slips!
Note that they put the wrong number for my car on the third run, AND they put the same dail-in for both of us: 15.12. No wonder I broke out!

Cruzin, Tom didn't fare well at US41...He pulled me 1/2 car length out of the hole, and that is where we stayed thru the 1/4. All I have is a CAI, Code 3 pulley, and tune by LET running street tires. Tom as you know, has it all. I couldn't find any leaks, restrictions, but that is still where I would look. He just isn't getting any raw HP>....He should be lighting them up at the line...I managed 1 run w/ a 1.76 60ft for the track conditions, Tom's were worse...most runs were in the 1.8-1.9 for me. Tom wasn't beating those, so something isn't right in his set up, but nothing stood out. LET wasn't any help on his, and we took a look at mine, and the tune on mine hadn't changed...so, I am now reluctant to do anything until Tom's problems are diagnosed. Why spend the time and money he has spent, buy slicks, and all, and he beats me by 1/2 a car length or less? I don't think my 'vert is that fast...somethings wrong, so I hope those who helped him, sold him parts, can help the guy out. He's pretty depressed about it, as I would be....with that said, it took v-10's and heavily modded v-8's to beat the 'vert, so I am happy with what I have, but I would like to go faster...LOL
Thanks oledoc2u for the update. You had some great 60's for the track conditions. DA must have been pretty bad because even your times were off compared to others with a sc pulley. Tom doesn't have to be depressed, he is so close to a winning combination. Two simple swaps and he'll have more power than he will know what to do with.
Yeah, another disappointing day at the track!
Cruzin: I don't have that many tracks that are close to me, but I've been attending track events the last two weekends. I had high hopes for the New York track because its elevation was so low, but that didn't seem to matter as the DA was about 1,500.
I left my slips out in the car, as I'm relaxing after the 6 hour drive home. I'll scan them and post them when I get a chance.
I have a loaner throttle body to install which will hopefully fix the check engine lights I've been getting. Maybe it will help with the power problem as well. I don't know. I'm not that hopeful that it will.

Keep your head up, your making progress even though it doesn't feel like it. All the track time will pay off once your up and running right. Listen what rob has to say and he'll have you needing wings in no time. I followed his advice to the T, glad I did.
Here's my time slips from US41 for those that are interested. I appreciate the input.
I think the overall trend is obvious. I'm not getting the power that I should be getting with the mods and tune I have. We'll see if there's any difference this weekend with the loaner throttle body installed.

See what the throttle body does, maybe yours is bad? Too bad someone couldn't swap one at the races this past weekend with you. If not you don't have much choice but to switch tunes and see what happens. Good luck this weekend. Too hot here to hit the tracks, and it's only 102.
I think it could be the weight of the passengers you had to haul down the track
Thanks again, hope you get everything squared away. Next time you and Doc are drinking beer in Indy, you better call my a$$ LOL

With those added mods you should definitely see a major improvement. Could be a possible boost leak. I would get her on a dyno to see if maybe she is running richer which would make sense. Good luck!
Well, I got the loaner throttle body installed tonight.
My butt-dyno reports that the car is performing better. The throttle responds much quicker and it seems like it has more power. I'll need to take it to the track to confirm, but I was squeaking tire a lot more than usual tonight while I drove it around.
Unfortunately, I got another P0505 and a P0507 check engine light while test driving it around. So I decided to disconnect my battery for about 45 minutes so that it would clear whatever the ECU had learned from my original throttle body. I drove it around some more, and I didn't get any CELs.
BUT... I did have idle issues. The car is idling high in park (about 2,000 rpm) and high in drive when stopped (about 700+ rpm). That is probably what is causing the P0507 CEL, but I don't know what is causing the P0505. Well, I should say the same thing is probably causing them, it's just that the P0507 is more obvious. I only got a P0507 once before, and that was at the Spring Dragon, just after I had installed the manis, catch can, and ECU tune.
Anyway, I'll drive it to work tomorrow and put some miles on it and see if the ECU relearns and corrects itself.

Oh, here's some logs from tonight and from the May 30th US41 track day, in case anyone is interested.
The logs are in a .ZIP file, but the forum won't allow .ZIP attachments. So I renamed the file .DOC. So be sure to rename it back to .ZIP if you download it.

Well, Jerry from LET posted over in another thread that he's seen a SprintBooster go bad and cause throttle problems. So, on his recommendation I removed my SprintBooster and disconnected my battery overnight. I didn't get a Check Engine Light on the way to work today, but the day ain't over. The car is still idling very high. I'm taking it to the track tonight to see if the new throttle body helped the power problem. Then its on to tackle the idle problem. Ugh!
High idle= intake manifold leak,,, the gaskets under the manifolds will blow above 16 lbs boost unless you over torque them . sorry don't remember what i torqued mine to,, but i tightened them until i felt then getting ready to break. also no more p505 after that. jim
Thanks for pointing that out about the leak and the over-torque, Jim. My manis are only torqued down to about 10 ft/lbs. When I originally installed them, Rob told me to torque them to 15. When I did, I broke several of the bolts. So when I got the new bolts, I only torqued them to 10.
I wonder if that's the problem...?
I wonder if that's the problem...?
I think i torqued mine to 150 inch lbs that is almost 13 ft lbs.. but first i removed the manifolds and made sure i had the spacers and the gaskets in place,( yes one of them was sticking out) replaced them, also found one of the clamps broken on the inlet pipe of the manifold. jim
with that torque the bolts are a one time use,,,

Well, the more I thought about it, the less I wanted to go to the track. I knew there was a problem with the idle/throttle, so I figured it would be no different at the track, so why spend the money to race and get pissed off again.
So I seriously considered taking off all my parts to return it to stock, with the idea that if I still get CELs then its off to the dealership for warranty service.
I started by putting my original throttle body back on. While I was at it, I added pipe clamps to the tubing joints right under the throttle body. I know they're not under significant pressure, but I figured what the hell, it won't hurt. I also checked the torque on the mani bolts. They seemed a little loose to me, so I torqued them again. I torqued them to 12 ft/lbs. I didn't want to go more because they seemed ready to snap (again).
After I got that far I decided to go for a drive and see the difference between my throttle body and the spare. Immediately I noticed that I wasn't getting the high idle RPM that I was with the spare throttle body, but I also got a P0505 again (instead of the P0507). WTF?!? Could both throttle bodies be bad? It's hard to say. Other than that the car drove fine, but didn't seem to have as snappy a response as with the spare throttle body.
I don't know. I hate to return it to stock right now, as I have a race/dyno event next weekend. But then again, whats the point of doing the race/dyno event if the car isn't running right? Ugh.

Perhaps you can narrow your issue down to a common denominator.
So many members have laid down some excellent quarter mile times using a variety of intake, pulley and tune modifications, along with DR’s – so I doubt these mods would be the cause of your issues.
If you still have your OEM manifolds, I would suggest this to be your first reverse swap (without any spacers). It would be quick, easy and only cost you a set of OEM gaskets. Torque to OEM specs (7 ft. lbs.), check for any leaks - drive around a bit and then head out to the track and see how you run.
