Default I won the Import Showdown RWD class

Well, it was a very hot and humid day today. We had DA's of 3029 Ft. (I just picked the time for my last run to calculate the DA, but suffice it to say, it was bad all day.). Steve and I ran heads up for our first run in the T&T, and he out pulled me by a bit on the top end. We ran 2 rounds of qualification, and we both made it into the competition. We were pitted against each other for the first round, and I beat him by .06, which by the way was about the same amount as I beat him in reaction time. So, we were pretty well matched up. I told him before we ran, that it would probably come down to who had the best reaction time, and it did. I guess I had a bit of an advantage as it is my home track, and I am used to the trees. Anyway, from there, I made it to the finals, and was up against a turbo 240SX that was running 12.4s all day to my 12.7s, so I figured I would get second. I hit a near perfect reaction time, and beat him off the line. His turbo spooled up around the 1/8th, and he started reeling me in..... In the end, I beat him by a fender. Dang, that last 100 or so feet seemed like a mile to me. LOL I won a very nice/big trophy and a $200 purse.

Anyway, we had a great day despite the heat (no rain), and Steve and I are 1 and 1 since he inched me out in the T&T, and I inched him out in the eliminations. Steve said that next time he wants to meet up in Gadsden to settle the score.

I will take a picture of the trophy in a bit and post it on here.

Congratulations Bob, shame your cars not back down to it's 12.2's you would have really gave that guy a beating

Has your MPH improved or are you still seeing pre-tune numbers?

Still seeing pre tune numbers, but I guess since Steve has close to the same mods as me, and we were both running 12.7s it is just the heat and humidity.

Thanks Mike. My son has one of those battery powered Hummer H2s, and he asked me if I could mod his truck so he could race it and get him a trophy. He just turned 4, and I am finding that it is a very fun age to be a parent. He always wants to help me when I am working on my car.

It was fun, and I think I have a new found respect for some of those FWD and AWD Japanese cars. Dang they had some fast ones out there. There were guys running 10s and 11s. Oh, and the RWD class was limited to 6 cylinders, as they had a V-8 class, which was a good thing, as they had a couple V-8s out there that were running some impressive numbers.

Oh, and Steve ran a V-12 CL600 in the T&T and smoked him. It was not a very fast car.

Great job and sounds like a blast. I am sure you caused quite a few conversations about the SRT. Congratulations.

Way to represent and take the win by your driving skills. Those are the sweetest victories. I take it this was a heads up class not a bracket race? Trophy count SRT6 1 SLK32 0

just got home bob. i had a fantastic time witha most gracious host. many thanx to bobs wife jasmine for the great food and drink.
bigkid to say i stuffed the drs in the trunk would be an understatemant!. thanx to buggin i learned a trick to make them fit.
i had a great time and can say without a doubt bob hasnt lost his tune. from the first race we did it was clear the weather just sucked the power out of these cars. still had so much fun. our cars are so close it is truley a drivers race when we line up.
my goodyear dr's were so damn sticky i was wheel hopping at the burnout and scared i was going to break something. and to say i got schooled by the ricers would be a polite way to say i got my hat handed to me!!
a 240sx and i lined up and i had him beat until about 50 ft from the traps. he went from 89mph to 128 mph in less than 1/8!!! by the 3rd round he was dropping 11.6's like nobody's buisness
for reasons unknown to me they allowed a buick gnx run and WOW!!! wheelies off the line and low 9"s!!!!!!
thanx again bob and CONGRATULATIONS on an awesome run in the finals. you whooped that ricer!!!

Yes, it was a heads up class, which made it even sweeter.
