It was the same people as this one!

and it was at the same place as this one will be !! Thats why I'm excited because all the people there last time were very polite and informative! Saw same really nice racing and I can't wait to try it myself! ... I think I have my friend and his rx8 coming + my other buddy and his vette! ... would be sweet to have a Xfire turn out ... last time I was there a few people asked when I pulled up if I was gonna race it cuz they really wanted to see it in action!

Well Landho... I'm gonna be there for sure... even if just me and my DVD player... LOL ... It looks like I wont know anyone that will be there... gonna kinda be strange to be at a thing for the first time with no support ... but everyone else has ditched on me cuz its getting so close to people moving back to school! ... count me in for SURE on being there though! ... do our helmets have to be any certain size or anything... does it need a face mask part? or can it be like a motorbike helmet ?

I plan to be there.

Helmets: Most events require a snell M2000 or SA2000 rated helmet. full face or open face doesn't matter. DOT only rated helmet (cheapies) are not allowed. There should be a holographic label inside the helmet that Tech inspection will look for. Sometimes, loaner helmets are available at the event. Some snowmobile, atv, motorcycle helmets are M rated. You'll probably want to put 42/40 or 40/38 psi in your tires on that day.

I got mone on ebay. It was brand new and snell 2000. If I remember right I paid something like $75.00 for it. A great deal. Just make sure you ask the seller if it has the snell 2000 (or later) sticker inside. There are a lot of helmets out there that have a snell approved sticker on the outside and none on the inside. It's the inside sticker they look for when you go through tech. There are tons of helmets on ebay.

Okay thanks WM! I'll check out Ebay maybe! Can I purchase them at local stores though? or are they only racing shops?

yep, motorcycle shops have them. Make sure you look under the lining of the helmet for a holographic label that says SNELL M2000 or SA2000. Anything older than 2000 (e.g. M1995) should not be purchased. Although the x1995 is still valid until the x2005 is out, this helmet is only acceptable for a couple of years max. (BTW Snell x2005 is not out yet.) Just Snell word on the outside back of the helmet is not enough. Gotta have that special label...

I know it was expensive... and I could have almost bought my Eibach springs with double the amount... but I think this helmet was HOT! and it will be plenty safe also!

IMO, for autox, you don't really need a full face one like this. It may get hot and it's hard to talk to someone if there is an instructor riding with you. You'll only be wearing it for about 5 minutes each time. For that price, you can get a SA rated helmet which is better in protection than the M rated. If you might take your car to a track, such as waterford hills or gingerman, they don't allow M rated helmets.
