SRT6 vs Mazda MX5?
One of my customers has a Mazda MX5. On a recent ride taking her up to the airport we were talking about my SRT6 and some of the mods I was making on it. She boasted that her MX5 is faster than my SRT6 and was willing to put up her money to back up her mouth (betting a free future trip to the airport vs paying double . . . that's about $200.00). At first I figured she just wasn't familiar with the SRT6s but now I'm not so sure but that she might be absolutely right. Maybe it's me that's not familiar with the MX5 . . .
I've made lots of mods to my SRT6 but most have been cosmetic. I only have a couple of performance mods installed . . . the Needswings DCAI; a 74mm throttle body and the Needswings SRT6catdelete downpipes. The car runs great but I don't have any experience running it on a 1/4 mile track to get any actual times. Any thoughts on how my SRT6 might do in a drag race against a stock MX5?? . . .

I have an na CF and an 08 Miata. The miata is only quick around turns. 2500lbs and 167 hp. Need I say more. but there are a few running late model Corvette engines.
And as a footnote:
Unless the history in the forum is incorrect... SRT6 is stock with a 74mm throttle body.. so I don't think it belongs in the tag line of upgrades..
Be kinda like me putting in "68mm throttle body"...
look under her hood frist , lol some i have seen have stuff ls1 motor in them , even then it hook up prom for her , i;m thinking she think you have a base crossfire or a na , alot people don;t know of the Srt6 , I would think a easy win
Too late Max, already 'dibbed' it on another thread :

besides, we both already HAVE a 74mm - if you want to split the cost as a spare, I'm in for that.

So THAT's how I got all mixed up about the throttle body. The SRT6 had a 74mm throttle body all along! I kept reading on the forum about upgrading to a 74mm throttle body and never realized they were talking about an upgrade to the NA Crossfires . . . DUH!!

LOL.........better know the cars that you want to take on....I remember my first Neon SRT4 encounter...and the Dodge 4x4 w/ 4" lift kit... both in the 11's.... just sayin'....but the Mazda....shouldn't be a problem...unless she's a looker too, then I would let her win....lol....
Not "a looker" and also a lesbian . . . Guess I might as well go all out for the win!
Show her who's the better man !!!!
basically if you get beat by a mazda just turn in your man card.
As a former Miata owner I can tell you that even my Crossfire Limited is faster so your SRT6 will crush it without even trying - provided it really is a bone stock MX5. Heck, I even managed to hunt down and pass a full on Spec Miata racer on a road course in my Limited. I'll admit it took me a few laps to figure out how to stay near him in the twisties, but I pulled hard on him on the long straight and finally passed him. A full Spec racer, R compound tires, the works. I was pretty happy to be able to take him down, but he was a bit miffed. In a straight up drag between an SRT6 and a bone stock MX5 there should be no contest at all.
The Miata is a terrific little car and should never be put down for not being fast in a straight line. They are great fun on really tight canyon roads like we have here in SoCal and they can change direction like a housefly. But they are truly sports cars in the classic British sports car mold - small engines, lightweight bodies, that encourage momentum and finesse over sheer brute power.
