I have the 6 speed coupe and I am going to put in the K&M filters and also the chip but not until next summer. I would sure like to hear from anyone who has done those mods also. If no one does it before, I will let you know.

Bob G:
Just take a look thru the forum... We've pretty much covered all your questions and many of us have already done the mods you are asking about...Best way to find out the answers is by doing a search on this forum... And also if you could redirect your post to the appropriate forum, you might get more responses... This section should pertain to racing, autocross, drags, etc...
Best of luck

this question is about racing, the quarter mile, chipped. and i've been a member here longer than you and know that this question has not been covered. yes, redcross ran a 14.4, but that was automatic. i want to know about the 6 speed, so before running around with your pretend moderator stick make sure YOU read the posts.
X'd my response was to this post from Bob G...
Now do you actually think his post belongs in a racing category ???
I was kind enough to give you the specifiic info you needed in my post to you... dragtimes.com has posted times for a 6spd man tran... If you don't appreciate the asistance in answering YOUR questions without copping an attitude, I will surley not repond to them and you can wait for an appropriate answer from someone else... Which obviously still hasn't happened...
Now, if you want to go to dragtimes.com to see the answer to the question you posed, it is there...

I looked at that site, and it's hard to say how accurate the reports are. I took mine to the strip a couple of months ago and couldn't get down to their times. It was a sunny day with plenty of bite, but with only 1k on the odometer I was not really broken in. I only got 5 runs with the car and never felt comfortable with the launch. On the last run I dumped the clutch at 3k, but it still bogged (Traction control off A/C off etc). I think the tires are good enough to handle maybe 4-5k at launch. Still posted best time of 15.2 @ 93.45mph. I just got a new g-tech and as soon as we get some decent weather I'll post some times and RWHP numbers. I plan on chipping it and getting some kind of exhaust as well, after I get some baseline numbers and I'll post them also. This is my busy time of year so hang in with me, as I may not get to this until next month, but I will get to it.

I was thinking about a g-tech myself but I don't know how they work. I couldn't see how on thier site. Do you have to confirm a quarter mile 1st and then go from there? Surely it can't have GPS capabilities for the $200 price? Would be great to be able to test upgrades with something other than a drag strip or stop watch. PS Do you have the all season tires? I can dump the clutch at 3000 to 3500 and get good tire spin no bog) as they are not quite as sticky as the summer Mich. If I get a g-tech and can figure it out, I will let you know.

The g-tech style meters measure acceleration over time and calculates everything based on that. They don't use GPS. Here are the FAQ's for the Passport G-Timer: http://www.escortradar.com/gtimer_faq.htm
That should explain it all. I believe RedCross has a G-Timer and has compared it to the track, with very accurate results.
