Great Racing Weekend @ WSIR
Just wanted to share with the group...
(SASKINS) joined me for the Historic Sportscar Racing series this weekend at Willow Springs International Raceway... We had a blast in our two Crossfires, but got alot of ribbing about the car from the other members and Michael McCarthy, the race promoter...
I guess the Crossfire still can't compare to the Lotus Elise, or the 90's era F1 cars that we were out with... But what the hell, we got some great in-car video... And I had a hoot with the 1999 #21 Budweiser sponsored NASCAR chasing me through the turns, then turning me into DUST on the straights..
PS... Our poor car really needs some more power (LOTS MORE)... And for those who haven't upgraded their suspension yet, I would highly suggest it... Just ask (SASKINS) And also, I think (SASKINS) finally realized the automatic tranny has some serious drawbacks if you're going to do some serious driving... But his intakes are pretty cool, and the kid can drive... Must be all those years of racing Motocross...

Well Thank you (HDDP) but it wasn't the Auto stick that was problem. I couldn't get any good radio staitions out there. I was searching the whole time. No just kidding, But you brought up a great point. The stock suspension, all though superb in regular street driving. Seriously lacks on the race track. I had a real hard time with under-stirring, and body role. At Willow on the big track, there are a lot of off cambered turns that would want to make the car pitch the opposite direction of the turn. Now I think because of that wonderful traction controle crap, it would try to compensate for it and just kill me on power. I really don't like that thing. I turned it off before we started hoping it wouldn't be an issue ,and it would let me get a little loose. With in the first 2 turns I knew it was going to be a problem.
(HDDP) however had no problems holding on to those turns, because of his Eibach springs, and Connie strut combination. I too will probably go with the Eibach springs. I'm not 100% sold on those struts though. I am however, looking into the development of a front and rear heavy duty sway-bar. I'll keep you posted as that progresses.
But all in all, I had a killer time with (HDDP) he too is an extremely talented driver. We both put in some really good laps in. We hit speeds up to the 120+ in the straightaways. I think the # 21 Bud car was going a little faster though. Any way we both had a kickass day with our two Crossfires, and can't wait to race Nov. 27th.

Craig:
There were two Lotus Elise's that weekend... I did not speak with either driver, although I helped the purple Elise get out of the pit, by push starting it, since his battery was dead on the first qualifying lap...
Would love to have you with us on Nov. 27th

Ya for sure, the more the marrier.. Oh ya that Elise is unbelievable. HDDP and myself were tripping over our own jaws watching those guys put in some pretty impressive laps. I'm working on a custom Crossfire for the race in Nov. It's been kind of diffecult coming up with a paint scheme. I got it now, but putting an idea down on paper that is flat. To when you put it pn a round, "Non-flat" surface. I had a lot of really cool ideas, but they didn't work out as good as I hoped when plotting it onto the helmet.
