I wouldn't say the SRT6 was 'holding off' the SRT8, I'd say the SRT8 was trying to hang on. ( and losing that battle ).

And this was just sent to my boy: an SRT8 (392) owner. At least when he first bought that pig of a car, he asked my what mods to make first.

Hotchkis. And he listened! $$$, but worth every single $.

I thought this was going to be the drag video but was surprised with this. I figured the 6 was going to be better in the corners but even in the straights the 8 wasn't able to pull on him. Not sure how different the exit speeds were but the 8 seemed to have a good line. Nice run to whoever was in the crossfire!

That was Micheal Cunningham from our Facebook page.

Yea, I didnt expect the '8 to lag behind in the straits like that.
The '6 is somewhat modded, but still.

I know what to expect from the XF, so that was no surprise.
But I got to say, (after everything I've heard about what a barge the Challenger is supposed to be on a twisty road) I was VERY impressed with how well it performed, stock or not.
Very cool video.

That video was taken at Spring Mt., I just raced that configuration 2 weeks ago, it is a great track and it really favors a good handling car.

Downshifts seemed to be in odd places (like the apex of curves) and I would have expected more oversteer out of the corners but the Challenger always seems to be going in a straight line. Guess I am just used to plastic pigs.

Hey, I've ridden in that Crossfire, fastest car I've ever been in.
Mike I can't believe I didn't spot your license plate.
I thought you were a "straight line guy" who enjoyed embarassing the likes of Jeremy Clarkson.

I like turning left and right as well AMX. lol

It was a fun course and was hosted by Speed Ventures. I will definitely go out and run again but will come prepared with proper tires and not the garbage I happened to have bolted up that day.

You could tell it was the Challenger driver's first day on a road course. He didn't get loosened up until the last lap. Equal driving experience and skill would have made a much different race, even with the 1,200 pound handicap. Good video though. As much as I like my Crossfire, you can't beat the sound of a V8.

I watched the video again, and I still think you can't count the SRT8 out of the race, with a good driver. The driver in the SRT8 never broke 5,000 rpm until maybe the last lap, he never had it wide open, because the engine was not pulling that hard, and he was allowing the engine to do most of the braking, rather than braking aggressively. I think equally skilled drivers would make for a very close race, especially with any mods to the SRT8.

I hope to get my coupe out on track day, sometime this summer, if it ever quits raining. If it were me, I don't think I would run an SRT8 for any money, on a road course, unless I knew I was a far better driver, and I think I'm a pretty aggressive driver.

I found out that I can run with a 2012 Mustang GT, on the way home with my 2006 SRT6, and they are no slouch either. I could pull him pretty well from around 60 mph to 120 mph on the highway, but we never had the opportunity to run stoplight to stoplight, since we were running down I-70, in St. Louis. One time, he came up behind me, already accelerating, and I caught him within an 1/8th. of a mile. He cooled his jets after a couple of tries to pull me on the highway. Darn that was fun! They are made to run.
