Speedy, the "Quickest" AMC V8 was a 390 in the 1969 SS/AMX.
Best times I could find was 10.73 sec. at 128 mph.
I don't think Jim wants to go that slow.
Great times Jim. Can't wait to hear what you can do with a better gear.

Speedy, AMC never built a twin turbo anything for the public. I was just talking about something they actually DID build.
But since Chrysler never built a Crossfire with a 550 Mercedes V8, I guess that means anything goes.

" A friend of mine ran a 7.81 when he used the amc 401 block, crank, heads and rods. (and the stock rod bolts!!!)

He used a blower and methanol.

But who has the fastest AMC powered car??

He ran this engine years ago, but had big problems when the sylinderwalls was cracking...

Has anyone gone faster than this??

He had this engine in a 66 rambler."

From the amc forum
Impressive on the stock high nickel block.
Amc had lots of room for improvement, we do not.

I think the instead of the mercedes 90° 3 valve engine a 60° pentstar v6 with the 4 valve heads, stock 305 hp would be good in a crossfire, and doesn't it bolt up to our 6 sped trans.
Seen online a twin turbo pentstar in a wrangler pulling over 440 hp at the wheels, with that heavy rotational weight.
If only someone could figure out how to adapt our factory cruise control.

not sure what or how the "kit" will be but maybe as i said,, a ford 9" (Housing being made now) to BOLT into the crossfire as the mb diff. does now ,,,and a 1 piece drive shaft that is a bolt in and of course axles that would fit the crossfire
1 kit = 1 ford 9" diff with whatever gears you want.
-----1 tcu set up for the gears you choose .
---- 1 one piece drive shaft
-----2 axles

don't ask the cost,, we don't know once the first one is made we will know,
I have funded the r&d will keep you informed. jim

I have a good idea of the cost from the quotes I have had in the past. But what a set up if you have that much torque and HP..... You will stretch that stiff suspension to pull the front end...lol. I hope to be able to have machined the spacer needed and put together a rear end like you welded, wavetrac and all. Then I am done... What times we turn will be it... Done modding after this...but it is sure fun watching you push the limits....
