Ok...our current discussion in the other thread about slapping a SRT supercharger on the stock 3.2 liter block. Besides the tech. aspects to work out (much more then a couple of brackets, hoses, etc) the final cost would end up being close to half what one could buy a whole new base model Crossfire for. Just not worth it IMO. If someone though thinks it is, stop writing about it, put your money where your mouth is, and just do it. I'll even help out with supplying part numbers, wiring diagrams, etc. off of my SRT if they would like to whomever would truly put the effort into it...

So, in short my point here is not to ruffle every non-SRT owners tail feathers who's dream is to turn there base Crossfire into a Viper-eater. I enjoy a good debate just like many others but don't go out of my way to give sugar-coated responses. This is especially true when the other person is giving their opinion and not the facts. If you don't agree with my statements show me some hard data that backs up your talk and I'll continue to do that on my end.

Biggest issue it seems for some is leaving their ego's out of it...

Can we just ban this guy? I mean honestly if we all ok'd a petition can we just boot him out of here? If anyone disagrees other than respdoc, please chime in, but it seems that every topic he posts under turns from car enthusiast discussion to "ha, ha you didn't buy an srt-6 so stop doing anything to your car because it will never be as good as my godly srt-6." I mean come on, its a great car and all but it's people like you that give car forums bad names.

Respdoc, does make sense though, and is in no way lying.

It makes no sense to dump 10k into a car to get a measly 300 whp. Better just buying something cheap to make fast and use the XF as your daily. Or in some cases winter car.

but again, say you get you crossfire for 23k, spend a total of 33k, good deal, no matter how you look at it. 40k people a year spend 33k for 250 whp from the z.

but yeah, if you had 40k to spend for the srt, go for it, but then there are so many cars better in that price range.

LOL, I've been thinking the same thing since that member started posting... Most of it is puffery. Heck, X'ed and I know that the original members of this forum were the ones who foraged out the performance parts on this car from the get go... Most of these NOOBS don't realize they probably wouldn't have a Brembo Big Brake Kit, Borla Cat Back, or performance suspension, or cams, or headers, etc. if we hadn't spent our time and effort doing the research and delivering our cars to the mfg's for fitment and experimentation.

The SRT6 is adequate at best. I had one with me at Willow Springs last weekend and granted, he had more acceleration on the straight aways, I completely destroyed him in the turns...

As a matter of fact, last week I was contacted by a local dealer here in LA who was discounting two SRT6's $10k off sticker price to $37k, and I still turned him down.

I'll just keep plugging along on my mods. and having the custom performance work done to the car, then racing it nearly twice a month and going back to tune-it some more until the Exige is delivered...

I think the member you are referring to has some sort of personal issues that he exorcises by behaving the way he does on this forum... Just ignore him and he will go away... He has no real valuable information and seems to thrive on chest beating and berating other members. It appears like the stereotypical "little mans syndrome".

There were other members last year that were very similar in behavior and we just started ignoring their posts. They eventually just disappeared.

If you want REAL information on modding this car, look through the archives or ask some of the senior members who have been on the forum since it's inception...

Before you get too full of yourself, need I remind you that the Crossfire is based heavily on the M.B. SLK (R170) setup? What that means is that I can't think of one performance mod that can be done to an SLK32 that can't be done to my vehicle. I wouldn't see why this would be any different for your Crossfire compared to the SLK320. It would be like myself taking credit for installing the first full SL55 intake on a SRT-6 in these forums while in fact C32 owners have been doing this mod for quite some time now. Same thing goes for the SLK320 owners who have done many of the mods you have listed about...Cross-matching specs and part numbers between the Crossfire and SLK is not rocket science, my friend...

Now are you sure that was an Crossfire SRT-6 you raced?...since I can see from viewing your other posts you seem to have some difficulty recognizing vehicle trim levels...

Hey X'ed, can you believe this NEWBIE that keeps posting this sh*t? LOL

BTW it was a SRT6, a friend of mine from Warner Bros. Funny thing, he's a teamster driver for the show ER and just bought the car for $37,000 (NEW). I brought him out to the track so he could run his SRT6 with us... I'll post some video when I get the chance...

I'm trying to get a Crossfire class established through the SCCA, much like the Spec Miata series, but nobody seems to have the interest to race the car and there are so very few of them... So I guess I'll win every event... LOL

Unfortunately, some of the owners seem to be blow-hards like that guy that keeps pissing on everyone on this forum... It's probably the first sports car he's ever owned in his life and he thinks he's the bomb... LOL

Oh well... I'll just keep plugging along and trying to share the experiences I have with the car as well as any performance products I can dig-up and continue sharing them with this forum...

Curious, from what I gather you are quite the avid driver. Don't you think if you swapped cars you still would lose him in the turns. I am okay when it comes to the turns, but I am sure their are drivers that can out run me on a road course in a stock srt-4 when I am driving my sti.

Absolutely not... That's the point I'm trying to make... My NA Crossfire is now running about 237 hp compared to the SRT6 at 330 stock. If you're running a road course the higher HP car with stock suspension will pull away from you in the straights, but you'll quickly catch-up in the corners if you know how to drive. That's why I crack-up at that other member with the SRT6 who thinks he's HOT SH*T... LOL

We're not discussing drag racing... We're discussing finesse and handling... I have proven that about a 85 hp difference between my car with complete racing suspension and another with OEM suspension are about equal on a technical road course...

That's why I laugh at these posts by that other member... It's a "My Di*k's Bigger than yours" mentality, but he doesn't know how to use it... LOL

Case in point... I was running last weekend at SOWS and we had a Ferrari Modena running with us. The driver had way too much car for that track and way too little experience... He must have spun the car 20 times coming out of the corners through-out the course of the day...

And I'm sure you saw the pictures in my gallery of the knucklehead that trashed his '05 C6 Corvette because he had too much car for his talent...

That's what I think of that guy who professes his superiority with his SRT6... Big mouth, no experience and boisterous!!!

Heck, I can afford a 500 hp ZO6, but would that be fun for me? NO! I love being the only Crossfire out on the track, waving the flag for DC and having fun...

This car will be gutted and re-built at the end of next year and running SCCA with some of the best in it's class...

HDDP you truly are an inspiration. Since you have the most experience on here with this motor do you know if there is a way to raise the redline? Does that 237 HP feel a lot faster than stock, or is it not that noticeable? I'm debating where to go with my car, I don't want to race it because I have no experience, but i do want it to be a little faster.

The HP increase is very noticeable, in that stock, I was having a hard time on the track with S2000's and Boxters on the straight-aways, now I pull on them quite handily...

As far as your other question, I'm in the same boat. I think the only other thing I can do to this car short of forced induction is a Carlsson Cam. And since I plan on completely gutting the car in less than a year to turn it into a full-time SCCA racer. I'm debating what I should do next, or wait until the car goes into transition. Even then, I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the drive train... But I know I'll need to be in the 350+ Hp range to be competitive...

Best of luck...

You hit the nail on the head. Most guys would be better off dropping $4K on a good driving school as the best performance upgrade for their car, before dropping bucks on intakes, ECU chips, etc.
