Diana and I are leaving from Jacksonville, Florida at 7am on Thursday. Heading straight up I-95 to 26 in SC. We are stopping in Yulee, Fl. To hook up with Dan, I hope. And stopping for gas maybe at exit 3 in St. Mary GA. Most likely stopping in Brunswick, Ga. to hook up with Randy Ashurst around 9am. If anybody is wanting to join in on the convoy let us know!!! The more the merrier!!!

 

We might just be passing you ... will have radios set if close enough time wise. Leaving JAX at 7am but a few pick ups along way. Depends on if hit gas stop in SC before cross into NC if we just pick up convoy on I-26.

 

Buy gas in SC about 10 cents cheaper per gal than NC.
We will be monitoring Ch. 7.
Unfortunately, one of our gang has had to drop out.

 

It looks like I will be joining the group at the Dragon. First timer to Dragon with this group. It was a last minute thing for me after a work conflict resolved itself last week. I will be sharing a room with another attendee and will likely be driving up from Louisiana with Crystal & Marc and Don Thomas. I'll be there Thursday thru Sunday. Ralph "Donze" Herig.

 

OK... Some dropped out , more than that ,has just jumped in... Are we doing a record event , yet!

 

If the two guys from Knoxville show up for Saturday and ever everyone who says they are coming really do show up AND if the one girl from Atlanta really does get her husband to drive their OTHER Crossfire, we will have 85 cars, breaking the record by one!

 

I know of 5 or 6, besides me ,around Knoxvagas. I've only been able to meet a couple. I put the cards out , hopefully they'll all join in.

 

The record as far people listed , there will be 1 Jeep , 1 BMW Z4 , 3 corvettes , 1,Mustang GT,1 Ford (Nicks Car) and rental car coming from airport , Gary , Look to be , 8 cars that will not be Crossfires .

 

Wayne from Florence, AL said he was bringing his friend, that would be a newer model Thunderbird .....

 

Got my Kenwood that Mark gave me installed and set to channel 7 - just waiting for next Thursday now

 

Thanks for all the feedback on the radios. I have tested the Cobras, and yes, they are pieces of junk. I will be returning them. From reading all the posts, it appears that there will be extra quality radios available. I am counting on a loaner for this event. While we're up there, you radio gurus can educate me on the best ones to buy for our needs. Thanks again everyone. Don (radio virgin!)

We leave for the dam at 9am. Then leave the dam by 10:15 or there abouts, should be 6-8 groups going in a LOT of directions with return to the Lodge by about 4-5.

 

Bob will not be in his T-bird, it will be just him and me. We are leaving our wives behind to fend for themselves.

 

Too bad, kinda thought that TBird blended well with our oddball cars

 

We have a CAA-08 event T-shirt (Coupe, Size = L; Color = Gray) that was sent to us by mistake by the vendor in Eureka Springs. If anyone coming to the ToD Weekend GTG is interested, cost is $10. Send me a PM, we'll complete the sale using PayPal and we'll bring the shirt to Fontana Dam.

A thanks to Pizzaguy. He has graciously offered to loan us one of his radios for this trip. And to the authors of the Attendee Package: Very well done. Looks like alot of time and effort went into it. You may want to review the "Helpful Hints" section on Radios. From what I've gathered in this forum, you may not be able to find radios that will meet our needs for "as little as $30". We are looking forward to meeting everyone. Don and Lynn.
