CTC GTG Sunday 11 November
Just to give everyone a heads up, the Central Texas Crossfires will have a GTG on Sunday 11 November. The time frame is to give everyone who wants to join us a chance to clear their calendar for that day. Details will be provided for time, place to meet and destination. Our last GTG was a success and we would like to improve on that with a bigger showing of Crossfires.

Hey guys,
Just sent a PM with a few location ideas.
There is also a 'mission trail' here in San Antonio that will take us to all of the missions. Although, some parts of San Antonio (especially where these missions are at) are not very appealing or 'scenic'.

Henry with the SRT Roadster gave me a map with a few route ideas. I don't have time to plot it right now on mapquest, but I will try to scan it and post a pic of it later.
Oh yea, TTT /Bump.

Checking on the sites in your pm the fredericksburg to Llano scenic route seems pretty good. The problem is, if it is a problem, it is 115 miles one way from Schertz. The route to Llano from Fredericksburg is about 40 miles of scenic views.

Bill,
Just Schertz to Fredericksburg is somewhat scenic - especially once you get into Fredericksburg. Head out towards Enchanted Rock (less than 1.5 hrs) and there is a ton of scenery. My main concern is that I don't know anywhere up that way to stop and take pics, eat, etc. There are plenty of places to eat, I'm sure, i'm just not familiar with them.
Henry's route would take us out 90 West through Hondo (not really scenic to that point, mostly city). From Hondo, we would go north through Sabinal, up to Leakey, and make a clockwise circle back over towards fredericksburg. It would be a long drive - but he gave several options for shorter routes if desired.
I don't mind putting 200 miles on the car - that's what I bought it for.

I'm ready to do it, miles doesn't matter to me either. I want our GTG to be accessible to everyone who would like to join us so the turnout will be a huge success. What do you think CTC Charter Members? Do the non-members have any ideas?

Welcome aboard.
Schertz, New Braunfels, San Marcos, S. Austin (where ever we can get the biggest group to meet) to fredricksburg or there abouts is ok with me. The idea of taking us90 does not sound good. I've been out that way and its not very nice to look at.
Joe,
That's great, once you attend our meeting, you'll be a member. It happens that our next meeting will be at our GTG on 11 November. I will be at Buzby's this Friday as I hope that all our CTC members will be on our scheduled 3rd Friday of the month Buzby's CTC GTG. If your reading this Zeke, bring out some Mission Crossfires, don't forget the sale signs.

Hwy 16 between Bandera and Fredericksburg is probably one of the most scenic drives in the Hill Country. Lots of twistys for those who would like to put their XFires to the challenge.
My two cents.

Stogey, you are welcome to join us on our GTG. Our CTC membership is open to all Crossfire owners in the Central Texas area. It cost nothing to join, all you need to do is attend a meeting to be a member. Where are you at in the Texas Hill Country?

I would love to go but I already have tickets to go to TUNA does Vegas, crap. Not crap for the show, if you have never seen a TUNA show you have missed a great time but so are the GTG's. Maybe I can exchange them for another day, I'll get back to yall.
Paul,
I hope you can make it, we enjoyed you and your wife's company at the last GTG. I believe this one will be better than the last with more Crossfires and a longer scenic trip. Any interest in becoming a member? Daniel, a CTC Charter Member lives in Austin also. Maybe you and Daniel can get together and plan something up that way for a CTC GTG. I know there is several other Crossfires in the Austin area.

CTC Members,
We need to make a finale decision on the NOV. 11 GTG. Right now the trip to LLano via Fredericksburg is on the drawing board. We should decide by this Friday to give everyone a chance to clear their calendar for the GTG. We need to get the word out to those up North, East and West who might like to join in.

I am fine whichever route we take.
I think the main thing is getting a hold of the Austin guys and seeing if they are 'ok' with the route.
It would also be helpful to post an actual route that your are proposing so people can see it and decide. I'll go to Vegas and back if ya want.

HWY 16Shawn,
The info on the Fredericksburg to LLano, titled Enchanted Rock was in one of the sites that you pm'd, us about. I don't know how to get that info on here, maybe you can. Anyone that wants to go can Map Quest it. Of course we can meet at Target again but it may be better to be at the new Cosco. I understand we take 1604 to 281 which is a more scenic route than I-10 up to Fredericksburg and a scenic route HWY 16 out of Fredericksburg to LLano.

That is a long run. Very little time to hang out, talk, eat etc. From New Braunfels taking us46 to us281 to us290 to tx16 is 128 miles one way. Round trip is 256 miles. So most of the time is spent driving. I can take a road trip anytime. I think the gtg runs should have more time for hanging out with other Crossfire owners. I would like to do something shorter myself. Just my 2c.
Isn't part of the fun, the journey? If we leave around 8:30 a.m. and it takes about 4 hrs to get there with stopping, looking at the scenery, taking pictures and etc, we would be socializing on the way up. That would put us there around 12 or 1, Where ever we decide to dine at, we'll probably be there for about 3 hrs or so. We should be heading back around 4:00 p.m. Taking the fast track back should be no more than a couple of hours or less. This also gives a greater number of citizens to check us out.
Anyone else want to chime in on this trip? Presently, there hasn't been any real alternatives made for us to agree on. I'm willing to go where the CTC agrees to go. We need to confirm something soon as I'm sure there are other Crossfire owners in the surrounding area that would like to join us.
