Proposed Sites for CTC gtg 13 July
I'm starting a list of proposed sites for the next CTC gtg. Okay let's hear more ideas from the membership so we can vote on our next GTG and make plans so our calendars will be clear for 13 July. I want to finalize the GTG by the end of the month so everyone will know.
1. John has proposed the Auto Museum in Rosanky, Tx. about 12 miles south of Bastrop. Paul offered this:
I think that is a cool idea! We could hook up in Kyle and take 21 to Bastrop then 304 to the Museum and hang out a little while and then maybe to the park?" (Park idea is cancelled) Meet and Eat then Museum is now the proposal. Yes Votes 09 No Vote 01 (been there before)
2. Roger has proposed drive to Bastrop and go to a restaurant and socialize. Yes Vote 01
No Vote 00

Central Texas Museum of Automotive History
Bastrop, TX 78953
512-237-2635,
www.ctmah.org
This museum is located 15 miles south of Bastrop and it traces the history of automobiles with a
collection of over 125 beautiful vintage and collectible cars, trucks, and other vehicles. A large
automotive library with publications dating back to the turn-of-the-century is ...)
Open Sundays, 13:30-17:00, admission is $5 per, but 10 or more get 20% disc. ie, $4 per person. If this is the site picked, I will arrange for group parking. Paul's suggested meet up sounds good to me. We need to get a consensus for times and eating. I am not familiar with the area. Paul? anybody with ideas?

1) If meeting at Kyle, possibility of eating before the museum,
2) Eating at a restaurant in Bastrop after the museum.
3) Picnic at the Park after the museum.
Keep in mind that the Museum does NOT open until 13:30 (1:30PM). There are more than 120 autos on exhibit. If it takes an average 1 minute per auto viewing, that's 2 hours. I would guess that would put us in Bastrop after 16:00 (4PM) Those without park passes would have to register and pay the entry fee.
There are 2 CITY PARKS in Bastrop offering picnicking with No Entry Fee.
Just throwing that in as FOOD

I vote on the " Meet and Eat" first, run to the Museum and spend time looking at cars (I like to look at cars) and back to Kyle a different way saving the state park run for another time....
BUT I'll pipe down until everyone else speaks up.

Bill, I'm sorry to say that your comments about letting go and kicking back
shocked me, but you can only do so much. Hope it doesn't come to pass, but I can certainly feel your disappointment. Maybe everyone's on vacation in July?? Don't really know what to say,,sorry, John P.

Yep, it is frustrating that we don't have enough input and it falls on a few members to make the decisions. The questions that need to be asked: Are you with the Central Texas Crossfires or against the Central Texas Crossfires? Do you want GTG's so you can socialize, show your car, have fun and make friends?
At our last GTG/meeting, the members who showed up stated they wanted to continue with monthly GTG's. Being a member of this club is not just blowing hot air, it is about doing something. That something is to at least provide some input about our GTG by offering up ideas or even voting on ideas that are presented, not just read the post. This is your club/our club. It was to bring together Crossfire owners to be part of something with at least one thing in common other than being a human being, later finding out we have more in common. There are no dues, no offices to hold, but, becoming a member has some responsibilities: Provide input, sign up new members, attend GTG's/meetings and have fun. It really isn't that hard. For those non CTC members who may be reading this, it should probably apply to all Crossfire clubs.
We have 17 members of which 15 still own their Crossfires, with one member owning two for a total of 16 Crossfires. On the average we have 9 Crossfires that show up for a GTG (it is more fun and more impressive when there are a lot of Crossfires going down the road). The last GTG, Ron showed up with his two Crossfires (son drove one) and Ron paid for the gas. We have 3 members who've provided written input about the July 13 GTG. After this next GTG, I'll just do nothing but read the posts and if I feel like it, come to a GTG/meeting if I'm not to busy.

Bill,
I am going to end the suspense and pass on this GTG. Cherie and I have been to the museum and it really didn't do anything for us.
Idea for future GTG- State Fair of Texas Auto Show that is going to be held from late-Sep through mid-Oct.

Fred,
Okay, I guess we are on the wrong schedule. Sorry you'll miss it again. I was looking forward to seeing you and Mollie. It has been awhile.

Hello Guys....
Joe here.......I guess going to the Auto Musuem is fine with us...But like the last meet we had although we had a great time driving our cars.. I felt that we could have spent more quality time parking our cars and talking making new friends...getting to know each other a little more...
What ever the vote comes up with ..Connie and I will be there...
Thanks,
Joe Portales

Is Biff`s having a get together on the 4th of July???....Being on Friday..most of us who are off that day...How about getting together that afternoon...Riding into S.A....and whatever....I don`t know if S.A. throws a fire works show...but if so we can park at a park showing our cars....while having a beer or so....waiting for the fouth to show it`s colors...
Not saying to make this a meet.. just only if you can make it...
Just a thought ...
Thanks

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I was under the impression that the Central Texas Crossfires was for the purpose of socializing, showing our cars, having fun and making friends. There are many places we've gone before individually or as a club. As a club we go in support of each other with the idea of the first sentence of this post. If we didn't, no one would be going. The journey is part of the fun. Thank you Joe for offering ideas and Kevin's idea about the Texas Car show for members to consider. I'm looking for ideas about the July GTG. If there is none, then the first proposal is it. I agree we should spend more time socializing. It is up to the members how much time they are willing to spend on our GTG's to socialize. Personally, I would like to meet, have a meal and just spend time with club members as Joe mentioned. The GTG's are only one day a month and there is no where that is important for me to be other than an emergency or sickness. I'm not familiar with what goes on in San Antonio.

Bill...
I did not mean to step on anyones toes.....just making a comment on how I felt that day to Goliad...It was fun...but it ended so quickly without really sitting down with each other as a group to talk...
I think we need to decide on our next meet...I`m game with whatever the group comes up with..
Thanks
Joe
