Lightbulb Texas Crossfire Groups

To begin with, HOWDY!!
The purpose of this post is NOT to try to establish territorial boundaries. I know of 3 main Xfire grps in Texas, DFTW, Hou, and Central. Probably more Hoot&Hollers. I would like to know an approximate radius or area from Ground Zero, ie 80 miles from the Alamo (San Ant center, or 100 miles from ground zero, Houston Galleria, etc.
This is purely for my (our) edification and possible suggestions of WE-MEETS or joint GTGs at some mutually agreed upon time and site.
Hopefully this may open some discourse in promoting our Clubs and Cars, but more importantly our CAMERADERIE! The word that has been skirted around in all posts I have read. Up for grabs,

John P

A Texas group meet would be fun. But are you saying only 80 miles from S.A. and 100 miles from Houston?

Here is a texas map with 120 mile circles from 4 cities
Dallas,Austin, Houston, San Antonio
Not a lot of over lap at 120 miles and none in some of the areas

Dan, thanks for the reply. I just used arbitrary figures. Even Fred's figures would have to be adjusted. Would be fun, but was just "up for Grabs"

john I think you are on to a great idea. I personally have been part of Mopar clubs all over Texas and once you are about 50 miles away it is difficult to be an active member. I also agree that setting boundries would be bad but maybe identify us all as chapters all part of crossfires accross Texas. identifying this is the first step of know who is getting left out and more importantly is the first step in organizing joint meets with other areas ( chapters) the one reason I was interested in hooking up with the local Crossfire people was the hope that there would be cruises!!! I love to drive my old cars but the majority of the rest of the muscle car era people want to just park and sit in a chair. so this little car could be part of my car hobby dream!

Good luck
Steve

I think a location where a fun drive could be done would ensure a better turnout(aka Dragon, Woodward, etc). Maybe someplace like the Fredericksburg area would work?

I would join a DTE in Fredricksburg. Even with my (almost) stock Coupe.

DTE?
LOL

Thats a translation from another another (motorcycle related) forum where we have a RTE (R)ide (t)o (E)at anywhere in TX once a month. one time it's closer to SA, then it's closer to h-town then it's closer to DFW, but almost always it's below 5 hrs ride. And every month we have a blast.

Since we can't 'ride' our X-fires (unless there are some witches amongst us that ride their X-fire like a broom, we have to (D)rive (t)o (E)at.

So, bottom line: I would in for a DtE in Fredricksburg. They have some VERY good German restaurants there.

I know!
I love that area of TX. Even though my family tree has no known heritage in central TX, there is a historic home in Fredricksburg that shares my last name.

I would if I could, but I'm topless in Colorado. I'm going to the World's Highest BBQ in Dillon August 8-12. Good stuff from all over the country.
I should visit Texas again. I miss the pinch!
By the way, those headcover oil leaks are gone. Love that warranty.

Hold on . . .

You may want to start your own group or club as we did.

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of and you're right NOTHING is close.

I have seen lots of Crossfires in the area! I'm surprised that there isn't a group. (I guess everybody bought 'em when the economy was booming?)

I think there is a group of classic car guys who get together every Fri or Sat nite at Sonic. Maybe they can hook me up with some info on other owners? Maybe start on Craigslist? (I'm so spoiled to big cites for the past few years...the people around here don't seem to utilize the internet as much.) Suggestions?

Thanks guys!
