October 12 Central Texas Crossfire Gtg
Once again the New Braunfels River Run is on for October 12. Sept. 14 was canceled due to Ike and Sept. 21 was canceled due to other plans. Hopefully everyone, members and non-members will want to participate on October 12, so keep your calendar cleared for this day. Please let me know who is going by post or PM. Remember the info is in last year's 2007 run in the sticky at the top of the South Forum. The Target has moved so it is the old store, Ross is next to it. I hope there is no more glitches. Let's Do This!

Jenn and I are going to try to make it this time... barring another thunderstorm of doom like Ike... we already have it on the calendar, and I am trying to get off the night before so I can enjoy it

Bill,
Cherie and I are going to participate in the drive, but will most likely take in some of the music and wine in Gruene instead of brown bagging or BBQing.

Hey folks, let's give Bill some help on this and make it an enjoyable trip for all. Stogey has already posted a link to what will probably be the Biggest Columbus Day Celebration GRUENE has seen since 2007
Will probably make dining at the Gristmill or the Gruene River Restaurant untenable. Bill has thrown out a "Brown Bag" suggestion, Roger has declared he is NOT standing in long lines.
I have been looking on the net for dining in/around Canyon Lake. I am not familiar wih he area, therefore I will not make any recommendations, only posting a few that looked halfway decent that I found. Post your own thoughts so we can get this firmed up----OK?

I am up for the "brown bag". There are plenty of places around the lake to find a picnic table to use. Cold chicken and cold beer sounds good.
...... and best of all no lines, no waiting.

I don't think we have to have a fire for hot food. Just bring you own baloney sandwich, KFC or BBQ. This way we don't have to leave a tip. The only line we will have to be in is a line of Crossfires.
Just got back from a Canyon Lake recon. There are no tables at the dam overlook. Best bet for table area is Ft Sam rec. area. The lake is very low so the areas are not crowded. Other options are resturants. I stopped at the Roadhouse near Ft Sam. Its small with just a few tables but had cold beer and greasy burgers.

Bring your food and cold drinks. Remember the info is in last year's 2007 run in the sticky at the top of the South Forum. The Target has moved so it is the old store, Ross is next to it.
