After the last turnout for the luncheon with Paul last month, I'm befuddled with the lack interest of many of our CTC friends attending or responding to GTGs. Due to the frustration that I feel, what is the use of trying anymore? I sent all CTC members Paul's message to me and I feel his pain. The CTC was started for Crossfire owners to Socialize, Show our cars, Have fun and Make friends. I assumed that is why they joined. Well, it seems that only a small number of us have done that on a pretty consistent basis. Therefore, my interest has waned. The holidays have passed and hopefully the very cold weather. If someone wants to take up the rains to put together a GTG, I'll be happy to be part of it.

Question Re: CTC Jan/Feb GTG

CTC ALL, Last month was the first and ONLY meet I missed in almost 2 years since join-up.
I was at the almost DEAD END of a 911 EMS call. Having survived that, I planned on getting back on the road again wih all y'alls but it seems as though the local embers have just about died out. For that I am sorry, for Bill and especially for Paul. I put my time in researching places too, but not to the extent as others. I can be just as happy driving a 4 hour solo route as wih a group for lunch. Sorry to see it break up this way, but I like others have mentioned, do not need to be mandated to "SHOW UP". Sorry Bill. but no one else had the heuvos to say it. I hope someone sees fit to take over for Bill who did a heqq of a job getting CTC off the ground, and maybe we can have another lift off. If no one bites the bullet, I may just drift. Sorry, but I'm going to enjoy what time I have left whenever, where-ever and with whomever.

Thanks John for the kind words. The only mandate (requirement) was to show up at a GTG to be a CTC member. There was no other mandate. Members show up for GTGs to socialize, show their car, have fun and make friends which is usually the second Sunday each month. It is hard to do that if they don't. It is understandable that some members can't make all GTGs. I made them even when I didn't feel like it out of commitment to the CTC as I know the more the merrier and I enjoy being with my friends/other Crossfire owners. My only hope was for others to feel the same way so we would have a strong turnout for our GTGs. Several members such as you and Paul have gone out of your way to organize a GTG only to have many show no interest by neither posting or showing up. Some members don't even log on to the Forum to find out what is going on and if they do,they ignore the GTG posts. Tends to be a little frustrating. Hopefully the club will be regenerated or maybe it is time for me to get a Corvette "People join car clubs to show their cars, make friends and have fun. If your not having fun, what is the purpose of being in a car club?"

Red face Re: CTC Jan/Feb GTG

Been busy and had surgery, christmas was a nightmare, of travel, and I won't be going any where except for groceries untill mid April. I do miss the GTG but they were not the most important thing in my life, I enjoyed meeting all of you and hope the GTG's continue...maybe we need to think along the lines of every couple or three months...

Hope your feeling better and it was always nice seeing you and Molly again at a GTG. GTGs every couple or three months, that's an idea, however, some members already attend a GTG every couple months, three months or four months anyway. The ones who've missed five in a row are not now members. Anyway, you don't have to be a CTC member to attend a CTC GTG. A GTG every two or three months won't work for those of us who like GTGs and think GTGs are important enough to attend. A number of us have attended on a regular basis. That is what we have to do if we want to socialize, show our cars, have fun and make friends. It is like taking a pill if your ill, it won't work in the bottle. If we miss one then that would mean, it would be another two or three months before the next one. Thanks for your constructive response. I hope other members chime in on what can we do to have good CTC member turn out and have successful GTGs.

The question for now is. Who would like to attend a GTG? The second and third Sunday of this month has passed. Next Sunday or the 2nd Sunday of February to get back on track. Where do want the GTG to be?

1. Bill (I vote Sunday February 14 for Valentines Day, my wife enjoys GTGs).

I just learned Yesterday that there is a modern Mopar car show in Waco at the Dodge Dealership on 6 Feb 2010. Barb and I are planning to go, it is a 2.75 Tour drive from SA, we will drive up for the show Sat, spend the night and return Sun. We may also take in the Texas Ranger Museum while we are there. I also know some nice places to eat there as well.

As for my $.02 on the CTC here goes. It is a voluntary social club. I voluntarily come to the GTG's because I like everyone that I have met while associated with CTC. I know I first met Bill, Roger & Shawn Q at Biffs on a Friday Nite Cruise-in. The spirit of car guys is everpresent at Biffs, just gettin' together to show of you car and socialize while listening to the DJ play oldies. I still go to Biffs occasionally, but when I do I am always the only Crossfire there. We used to have that in CTC and I for one want it back. I plan on going to Biffs this Friday, I always go early so I can get arount the $5 fee for parking in the are reserved for "show cars" and get something to eat. Then I hang out and admire all the cars and get to brag about my Crossfire. Yes they do get their share of attention and draw quite a few lookers and some questions. Like I said, I'll be there weather permitting if anyone else wants to come just show up. If we are there early enough we can all park together easily.

Ron,

I'll join you on that trip to Waco, sounds like fun. I also would like to do the cruise-in at Biffs.

Here is an update on the car show I mentioned. It is actually in Temple at Mac Haik Dodge, IH35 exits 299 & 300. The show runs from 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM, all entrants must arrive by 10:30AM. There is no entry fee but you must RSVP to Justin Peschel at 254-773-4556. I still plan to go to the show and stay in Waco Sat. nite, it is only 35 miles further north. The date is still 6 Feb 2010.

We're in for Biffs; but might I suggest another place:
BJ's Brewhouse and Restaurant (210) 497-607022406 US Highway 281 North
(Stone Oak and 281 in the Villages at Stone Oak)
To avoid the horrible 281 North corridor: An easy back way is to head North on Bulverde Road from 1604 and make a left on TPC Parkway towards 281 (Used to be Stone Oak Parkway, but the road E of 281 was renamed TPC and the road W of 281 remains as Stone Oak) OR just take Stone Oak from 1604 OR come down from Hwy 46 via 281.
Hours

Monday-Thursday 11am-12am
1Friday 1am-1am
Saturday 10am-1am
Sunday 10am-12am

Very kewl in that they have a very large parking lot, can handle large groups and family friendly plus, as an added bonus, micro brews!
Soon to some to the Villages Shopping Center (next Fall?) an Alamo Drafthouse Cinemana like the one in Austin.

Since we've not been able to find the time/place of a GTG outside of an informal meet in Gruene last month it has been hard to join and get on the email list. I sure wouldn't mind subscribing to a thread where the meetings will be announced so that I could find out the where/when.

Anywho, if someone would PM, we'd be glad to meet there and set up a table.

thanks

Hi everyone!
Does anyone plan on getting together in February? I would really like to get out with some other Crossfires soon. It's been hectic and my car has been out of service for a couple of months now. =( Ancira Chrysler couldnt figure it out and $1,000 later, I finally had to park my baby in the garage until I could get it looked at by another mechanic. Hopefully, once I replace the mass air flow sensor, I can get back on the road again.
I was really sad to read some of the posts about the CTC meetings. I honestly havent had a chance to read these posts until today. Every other time I have been on the forum recently, it was to troubleshoot my car. Which I am so thankful for having this forum by the way!
I have had so much fun at the GTG's and I hope they continue. I spend almost every day stressed out because of work or family that sometimes I dont have time for myself. The CTC is the only hobby I have and its the only thing I do for myself. It's not about making everyone else happy for a change. I hope that we can continue our meets.
Paige

Early Bird Cruise-In
(Dare to Be Different)
8:00AM to 11:00AM
Fischers Store/McDonalds
7765 US Hwy 281 N

Hey there ladies and gents !!!
I'll give ya my two cents then shut the heck up ! As most of you know I work in IT Facilities and on call two weeks outta the month, so to say the least my schedule is hectic and can't always make a GTG. With that said some weekends when I do get time off and the weather is nice I'm on the back of my scooter which is as much fun as the my daily driver ( XFire ). As much as I would like to attend each and every GTG in my case it's impossible. But when I do attend all I hear about is the folks who don't attend ... disheartening as it is ... it is what it is ! So if you guys can live with that I'll gladly tag along when I can !

I can make a GTG on the 14 but I am scheduled for work on the weekend of the car show.

If some of us are good for a Feb 14th GTG. Where do we want to meet, do a road trip and feast? I haven't a clue. I will be making the trip Feb 6th to Temple for the Mopar show with Ron and overnight in Waco and take in the Ranger Museum. I believe John and Paul are going. I will also be attending the STCC (South Texas Car Club) this Saturday Jan. 30th, sounds like fun as some of our members will be there. Looks like I''l be cleaning my car often over the next few weekends and getting a few miles on it, be breaking 12,000 very soon.
