Any ideas yet for a meeting spot and drive route? Combining some ideas posted what about meeting in Giddings to start the blubonnet trail On the Trail of Texas Bluebonnets. Go south on U.S. Hwy 77 to LaGrange (20 miles), do the Lake Fayette Loop- 36 Miles (sounds good for pics), have lunch or lunch then Lake Loop, then continue the bluebonnet trail north on TX 159 and 237 which will get you back to U.S. 290 in the city of Burton.

That's in the opposite direction for those of us on the North West side of town .............how about 2 or 3 meeting points ?
Depending on the meeting time in La Grange, (and if I can persuade them to come )we have friends who have a Xfire, who know the back roads out to La Grange. Is anyone interested in a more scenic drive than I-10 ?

There's a Walmart on the NW corner of the Sam Houston and I10.
What say we meet in the parking lot there near the street at...oh...9:30 or so.
We jump on I10 to 71 and poof, we're there. Even if you have to drive south a little, it still looks faster than taking 290.
If you're all for fast, that's OK, but If we can get a backroads route (If I can persuade Richard to go), I would rather do that, what does anyone else think ?
If we go the fast route, you still want to meet further west, at say SH6 and I-10, like Nathan said, or even Barker Cypress and I-10
Have you seen the traffic at I-10 and beltway 8 at 9.30 on a Saturday ?

I'll do the back roads but does anyone know them? Getting hung up on 20 miles of washboard would be less than ideal.
Depending on where we end up, we could take the back roads back when we're not on a timeline.
Just my .02
